From serving diligently as Financial Secretary to later leading as President of the Association, your leadership helped transform the Association into a formidable force, inspiring unity, growth, and impact. Your commitment, wisdom, and passion for service continue to motivate many.

Beyond the Association, your contributions as a lecturer at the University of Sierra Leone and as a professional at the Bank of Sierra Leone demonstrate your unwavering dedication to education, financial excellence, and national development.

Dear SLUSAA Women,

Today, as we commemorate International Women’s Day, we celebrate the strength, resilience, and impact of women across Sierra Leone and around the world. As President of the Sierra Leone United States Alumni Association, I am particularly proud of the women within our alumni network who continue to embody the true spirit of our exchange programs: leadership, service, and community transformation.

This year’s theme, “Give to Gain,” resonates deeply with who we are as alumni. Through our various exchange experiences, we were privileged to gain knowledge, exposure, and global perspectives. But the true value of these opportunities lies not only in what we receive, but in what we choose to give back.

Across Sierra Leone, our women alumni are leading change: mentoring young girls, strengthening communities, promoting innovation, and using their skills to uplift others. Every act of service, every shared lesson, and every opportunity created for another woman or girl is a powerful reminder that when we give, we all gain.

Giving back to our communities has always been a defining pillar of the Sierra Leone United States Alumni Association. On this International Women’s Day, we reaffirm our commitment to empowering women, fostering leadership, and building a future where every woman and girl can thrive.

Empowering Impact Through Global Exchange.

We are proud to highlight U.S. exchange program participant Peter George, who is currently completing his six-week Alumni Professional Development Experience (PDE) with Deloitte.

Through this opportunity, Peter is strengthening his skills in strategic leadership, entrepreneurship, financial accountability, and impact measurement. He is applying these tools to scale his work in energy, waste management, and youth empowerment, including expanding his solar-powered backpack initiative for communities that lack electricity.

His journey demonstrates how connections to American expertise, combined with local innovation, can drive sustainable and measurable impact in Sierra Leone.
