PRESS RELEASE: A Historic First Edition of the Young Women Entrepreneurship and Girls Empowerment Summit 2025

The Geed Foundation, in collaboration with key stakeholders, successfully hosted the first edition of the Young Women Entrepreneurship and Girls Empowerment Summit 2025 today at Limkokwing University. This landmark event brought together a diverse group of stakeholders from the government sector, NGOs, community-based organizations, business owners, advocacy groups, HeForShe advocates, feminists, entrepreneurs, and industry experts.

The summit served as a dynamic platform where professionals and trailblazers shared valuable insights, knowledge, and experiences on their entrepreneurial and leadership journeys. Discussions focused on strategies for success, resilience in business, and the importance of fostering a supportive ecosystem for young women and girls in entrepreneurship.

A Leadership-Driven Opening

The event commenced with a powerful opening address delivered by our esteemed Executive Director, Madam Asilia Jartue Gilpin. Her inspiring words set the tone for an engaging and impactful summit. Through her remarkable leadership, alongside the dedicated team of the Geed Foundation, this event became a defining moment in advancing women’s empowerment and entrepreneurship.

This evening 7pm, our PR, Communications, and Marketing Officer, Mr. Joe Abass captivated our listeners on Afriradiosl 105.3 with an insightful session about the upcoming 1st Annual Young Women in Entrepreneurship and Girls Empowerment (WEGE) Summit 2025 scheduled for the 14th March 2025 at the Limkokwing Sierra Leone Limkokwing University Innovation Center hosted by the Geed Foundation Sierra Leone Gilo Educational & Economic Development (GEED) Foundation SL.

He continue to detailed the summit's vision and objectives, emphasizing its importance to community sustainable growth and how it will also empower young women and girls through entrepreneurship, leadership, education and innovation.

📢 Official Partnership Signing Between GEED Foundation SL and Limkokwing University 🎓🤝

We are thrilled to announce that GEED Foundation Sierra Leone has officially signed a one-year partnership agreement with Limkokwing University of Creativity and Technology (LUCT). The signing ceremony took place at the Limkokwing University campus in Freetown, Hill Station, on February 28, 2025.

This strategic partnership aims to enhance youth empowerment, education, entrepreneurship, innovation, and technology in Sierra Leone. Through this collaboration, both institutions will work towards sustainable development by providing young people with opportunities to grow, learn, and excel in key areas that drive national progress.

GEED Foundation SL was ably represented by our Executive Director, Madam Asilia Jartue Gilpin, our Strategy Project Lead, Mr. Jamil Swaray, and was accompanied by our Resource Manager, Mr. Elvis Sidikie.

Limkokwing University was represented by the Campus Director and the Director of Corporate and Partnership, alongside other senior administrative heads of the institution.

This agreement will run for one year, with the possibility of renewal upon a review of contracts and mutual agreements from both parties. We are excited about the future and the impact this collaboration will bring to Sierra Leonean youth!

📢 GEED FOUNDATION REPRESENTED AT INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY CELEBRATION 🎉💜

Today, our Program Planning Officer, Ramatu Koroma, proudly represented Gilo Educational and Economic Development (GEED) Foundation at the International Women’s Day celebration held at Youyi Building, Miatta Conference Centre in Freetown.

This year’s global theme, “For ALL Women and Girls: Rights, Equality, Empowerment”, underscores our collective commitment to advocating for gender equality, amplifying women's voices, and empowering young girls to reach their full potential.

The event, organized by the Ministry of Gender and Children’s Affairs in collaboration with the IWD National Steering Committee, featured a keynote address by H.E. Dr. Julius Maada Bio, President of Sierra Leone and Global Champion for HeForShe.
