To every girl reading this — this is your time to break the silence. Speak out so your voices can be heard. You are not weak. You are not powerless. You are not what their screenshots, threats, or gossip say you are.

Too often, boys and men use technology as a weapon. They hide behind screens, using private and personal things to shame, control, or destroy a girl’s dignity. That is not power — that is cowardice. And it is wrong.

Cyberbullying is not a joke. It’s not a “normal” thing. It’s abuse. It crushes dreams, kills confidence, and sometimes even takes lives. But we can stop it — when girls refuse to be silent, when bystanders speak up, and when we demand respect online just as we do in person.

To the girls: Your value is not defined by anyone’s threats or opinions. You are worthy, powerful, and full of purpose. Do not let fear bury your voice. Speak up. Report it. Expose it. Break the cycle.

And to the boys: Real men protect, respect, and uplift women — not degrade them. If you see this happening, do not laugh, do not share, do not ignore. Stand up. Because silence makes you part of the problem.

Today, let’s commit to building a digital world where every girl feels safe, respected, and free to be herself — without fear.

We need Justice for Sia Fatu Kamara 🙏

On August 13, 2024, Sia Fatu Kamara lost her life to intimate partner violence. She was brutally beaten to death by her boyfriend, Abdul Kpaka, who falsely claimed she suffered a cardiac arrest. The autopsy revealed the truth: Sia had seven broken ribs, a damaged spinal cord, and visible injuries.

Her death is a call to action for society to take a firm stand against such violence and ensure justice for victims.

In a major step toward closing the gender gap in Sierra Leone, President Dr. Julius Maada Bio officially launched the " Campaign" and signed the Prohibition of Child Marriage Bill 2024 into law at the Freetown International Conference center . This initiative aims to address persistent cultural stereotypes that hinder women’s access to healthcare, education, and opportunities. The event saw the participation of first ladies, dignitaries, government ministers, public and private organizations, and development partners.

Her Excellency Dr. Fatima Maada Bio expressed her joy and appreciation for the campaign’s launch, highlighting its mission to ensure equality and justice for all. She emphasized the importance of respect and dignity for women, urging society to treat women with the consideration they deserve. Noting that Sierra Leone has joined 16 other countries in this initiative, she proudly highlighted the success of the "Hands Off Our Girls Campaign," which has significantly improved school retention rates for girls. The First Lady also mentioned the medical scholarships her office provides and the support for victims of sexual violence and r**e.

In his keynote address, President Bio reflected on his 2018 campaign, during which he frequently moved with his baby daughter, signaling his commitment to the protection and empowerment of girls. He expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support, particularly from his wife. He declared that the era when women were seen as mere accessories is over, praising the African First Ladies' commitment to advancing gender equality and narrowing the gender gap.

"This Campaign, spearheaded by Your Excellencies, holds significant importance for us in Sierra Leone. I, therefore, congratulate you all, particularly my dear wife, the First Lady of Sierra Leone, who has chosen education and girls' empowerment as a primary tool to champion this campaign nationwide,” he stated.

President Bio urged citizens to be vocal in ensuring the enforcement of laws prohibiting child marriage and stressed the importance of taking women's issues seriously for national development. He highlighted Sierra Leone’s leadership in empowering girls through free quality education and scholarships for girls studying STEM courses, the declaration of a state of emergency on r**e, the creation of a sexual offenses court, and the passing of the Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment (GEWE) Act.

In his closing remarks, President Bio officially launched the "WeAreEqual Campaign" and signed the Prohibition of Child Marriage Bill 2024 into law, marking a significant step toward gender equality and the protection of girls in Sierra Leone. This campaign aims to create a more inclusive society, ensuring that women and girls receive the respect, opportunities, and protection they rightfully deserve.

Goodwill messages were delivered by invited First Ladies and dignitaries . First Lady from the Republic of Cape Verde, the immediate past President of OAFLAD who is also the 3rd First Lady of Namibia , the Executive Secretary of OAFLAD, a representative of Liberia's First Lady, and the Minister of Gender Affairs of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, who represented the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The child who is not embraced by the village will burn it down to feel its warmth🪘

The children of today are the adults of tomorrow. Let’s invest in their education and empower them to build a brighter future for Africa.” – Nelson Mandela .

The spirit of Soweto lives on in the hearts and minds of African children. Let’s honor their courage and fight for their dreams on International Day of the African Child.

Africa’s hope lies in the potential of its children. Let’s nurture their talents and give them the tools they need to thrive.
A child’s laughter is the sweetest sound. Let’s fill Africa with the joy and wonder of childhood on International Day of the African Child.

Happy International Day of the African Child 🌍🛖🪘

THE GIRL CHILD

In the heart of every girl, a dream does reside,
A spark that ignites, a fire deep inside.
With hope as her guide, she reaches for the sky, For she knows she's capable of reaching oh so high.

Her spirit knows no bounds, her courage never wanes, She defies expectations, breaks through the chains.
She's a force to be reckoned with, a beacon of light, Her dreams shall take flight, to illuminate the night.

On this special day, we celebrate her worth,
The girl child, a treasure, upon this precious Earth.
Let's nurture her dreams, let's give her wings to soar, For she's the future we've been waiting for.
