New Salone Woman Organization Participated in National Dialogue on Youth Empowerment 🇸🇱

Building a stronger youth sector requires intentional collaboration, shared advocacy, and inclusive participation in national development processes. These were at the heart of discussions during the recent Youth Stakeholders Engagement.

Bringing together key actors across government, civil society, and youth-led organisations, the engagement convened by the National Youth Commission Sierra Leone in partnership with the National Youth Sector Caucus focused on strengthening coordination and driving collective impact across Sierra Leone.

New Salone Woman Organization was represented at this important platform by Esther Mattar and Deyan Bangura , who contributed to discussions on youth empowerment.

As an organisation, we remain committed to promoting collaboration, amplifying the voices of young women, and contributing to a more inclusive and impactful youth development landscape.

Stronger partnerships, stronger impact
United voices, shared vision
Empowered youth, empowered nation

Our Executive Director, Esther Mattar, alongside our partners Brett Matthews and David Myre, had the privilege of meeting with John Mighton, founder of JUMP Math, during her recent visit to Canada.

John Mighton is a renowned Canadian mathematician and educator whose work focuses on making mathematics accessible for all. Through JUMP Math, he has transformed how numeracy is taught by building confidence step-by-step.

We shared our work on the Oral Information Management (OIM) Library for Women’s Financial Inclusion in Sierra Leone supporting unschooled and low-literacy women through icons and visual tools for independent financial use.

It was an inspiring exchange on inclusive learning, numeracy, and designing systems that meet people where they are.

Today, the Executive Director and Program Officer of New Salone Woman Organization (NSWO) participated in the official launch of the newly developed Slango Slango NGO Registration Portal, alongside national and international NGOs.

The new digital portal is an important advancement designed to simplify and standardise NGO registration and renewal processes. It aims to minimise paperwork, improve the accuracy of NGO records, strengthen regulatory compliance, and provide timely access to verified information on NGOs operating across Sierra Leone.

The platform represents a positive step toward improving efficiency, accountability, and coordination within the civil society sector, while supporting stronger governance and sector-wide collaboration.

Speaking at the event, the Board Chairman of SLANGO highlighted that the portal demonstrates a collective responsibility to uphold accountability and credibility within the NGO community, stressing the importance of transparent registration systems in building public trust.

The Director of NGO Affairs at the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development noted that the platform supports government efforts to digitise public services, enhance oversight, and ensure that NGO activities are better coordinated and aligned with national development priorities.

Officially launching the portal, the Representative of the Chief Minister reaffirmed Government’s commitment to working closely with NGOs, emphasising that the system will strengthen coordination, improve impact delivery, and support evidence-based planning and policy development.

The SLANGO NGO Registration Portal is now open to NGOs nationwide for the 2025–2027 registration and renewal cycle.

New Salone a woman Organization welcomes this important initiative and reaffirms its commitment to compliance, transparency, and effective service delivery.

Congratulations to for its leadership in strengthening NGO governance and advancing digital transformation in Sierra Leone .
