THE TWO MAJOR POLITICAL PARTIES (APC & SLPP) MUST GIVE PEACE A CHANCE

Advocacy for the Voiceless Sierra Leoneans (AVSL) is a human rights and non-state actor whose aims are neither to generate profit nor to seek governing power, but to sensitise, educate, recommend, and argue for a cause of gender-based violence (GBV).

It is a civil society and human rights organisation that acts as intermediary between the government and the people who have no means of livelihood. Over and above all, it protects the rights of the vulnerable in society more especially women who are often considered as the 'weaker s*x'.

Recent happenings in the political landscape of Sierra have further heightened or exacerbated citizens' fear regarding the possibility of Sierra Leone sliding back into another civil war (may God forbid).

In less than two weeks ago, the two traditional political parties in the country (ie the All Peoples' Congress party- APC and the Sierra Leone peoples' Party-SLPP) had an altercation over a pending bye election to be held at Samaya Bendugu in the Tonkolili District, Northern Sierra Leone. In the process of trying to woe supporters to vote for them and eventually claim victory, violent clashes erupted between supporters of both parties.

Nonetheless, the political parties registration commission (PPRC) which is charged with the constitutional mandate to oversee the activities of political parties and ensure that they conduct themselves in line with the electoral laws governing the state, was clear enough in fixing campaign time for contesting political parties. But it would appears as though they flouted the so called timetable set out by the PPRC and decided to go on the rampage. There were accusations and counter accusations on both sides of the political Isle.

The purport of this piece is not centered around who was at fault and who was not. But rather, Advocacy for the voiceless Sierra Leoneans (AVSL) is quite inoblivious of what is at stake if these two

Advocacy for the voiceless Sierra leoneans (AVSL) is poised to complement the effort of the Government of Sierra Leone in it vision as per the medium term national Development plan to build a nation responsive to the issues on protecting Gender_ based violence and offering equal opportunity to All persons. Inorder to achieve this goal the Advocacy for the voiceless Sierra leoneans as an Human right activists/ non_ state actor whose aims are neither to generate profits nor to seek governing power but to sensitized, educate, recommend, argue for a cause of gender- based violence, support, defend,or plead on behalf of the Sierra leoneans.
Advocacy for the voiceless Sierra leoneans (AVSL) shall act as intermediary between the grassroots, the government, their leaders or head of authority in their communities. Advocacy for the voiceless Sierra leoneans (AVSL) aims at promoting Human Rights, Rules of law, Justice for the poor, good governance, and raise awareness in the interests of the voiceless grassroots Sierra leoneans to ensure government and Agency transparency and accountability, monitoring compliance with national obligations, scrutiny, of legislation, programs and initiatives. Advocacy for the voiceless Sierra leoneans (AVSL) shall acts as communicator between government and the voiceless grassroots to help build a network of support and mobilize those grassroots on issues that affects or violate their fundamental Human Rights, guide them through the successful implementation of government policies. Advocacy for the voiceless Sierra leoneans (AVSL) acts as an important source of information for citizens and government there by monitoring government policies, actions and hold government accountable.we engage in advocacy and offer alternative policies for government,the private sector, and other institutions on issues relating to violence.

Advocacy for voiceless Sierra leoneans. Our main objectives is to speak in favor of, recommends, argues for a cause of Gender base violence, supports, defends, or pleads on behalf of the voiceless grassroots Sierra leoneans.
To promote Good Governance, Rule of law, Human right, and increase the level of awareness of citizens especially the voiceless about government policies and programs.
Our vision is based on a healthy democratic society with a strong civil society sector and active citizenship that respects human rights, cultural diversity and the fundamental values of all voiceless Sierra leoneans.
Our mission is to promote and protect human, civil and political rights in order to increase their security, capacity, and access to justice with those at risk through legal means and public advocacy, litigation and public campaigns and promote the greater right of women.
We also advocacy and offer alternative policies for government, the private sector, and other institutions on issues related to violence. thank to everyone.
