Old Fourah Bay College is a symbol of emancipation and a monument of immense significance, not only in the history of Sierra Leone, but also for the region. Among the people who served the ODBC college: Thomas Josiah, who marked the city of Freetown as mayor of the town council and one of the alumni who attended the OFBC college between (1867 - 1941)

Old Fourah Bay College was established in 1827, it was the first university of Western education in sub-Saharan Africa. For a century, OFBC was a laboratory for experimenting with the transfer of western ideas of governance, religion, political organization, and public service bureaucracy. Bishop Samuel A, was one of the first alumni who attended OFBC between (1807 - 1821)

Old Fourah Bay College ( since 1845 ) is a world heritage site in Freetown, Sierra Leone. Established by the Christian Missionary Society, its aim was to create and new and just society in which liberate Africans could gain access to a western-style education. Beyond its architectural heritage value, the alumni that graduated from OFBC changed the world: Edward Jones was a notable alumnus who attended the OFBC between ( 1807- 1865) .
