A beautiful location, especially during and just after the rainy season, is Bankasoka Dam, situated near Port Loko. The Bankasoka River (also known as the Port Loko River or Port Loko Creek) is a coastal river that, together with the Rokel River, forms the Sierra Leone River.

The road is paved all the way to Port Loko, making it accessible as a day trip. A little further north, along the Port Loko–Kambia Highway, Mange Bureh can be added to the itinerary. The serenity of the surroundings and the river views make the extra journey well worth it.
