YALI RLC Alumni Sierra Leone

YALI RLC Alumni Sierra Leone The YALI Emerging Leaders Program teaches young African leaders about modern leadership.

The Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) was launched by the United States Government as a signature effort to invest in the next generation of African leaders. The YALI Regional Leadership Center West Africa seeks to empower young men and women between the ages of 18 and 35 from Togo, Cameroon, Nigeria, Ghana, Ivory Coast, The Gambia, Burkina Faso, Liberia, and Sierra Leone, who are ready to e

mbrace leadership and work hard to transform their countries. The program is divided into four phases - a coursework phase delivered online and the remaining 3 phases distributed equally among a mentorship program, internship or community service, and a report-writing period. Focusing on the coursework phase, it entails three core courses (Leadership and Accountability, Ethics, and Contemporary issues affecting Africa) and one elective course selected from a sample of three courses covering three themes, namely Entrepreneurship, Public Policy and Management, and Civil Society Management.

This message is dedicated to women everywhere. May you rise with courage, claim your space, and continue to lead, create, and transform every sphere of life.

But this journey is not for women alone. True progress happens when we walk together. To the men who support, uplift, and advocate for equality, your role matters. Continue to open doors, create space, and stand beside women as partners in building a world where everyone can thrive.

When women are empowered, families are stronger, communities are richer, and societies move forward. Let us continue the work, together.

As we enter 2026, I am proud to highlight an act of service led by one of our alumni Abdulraman . Despite being based in Bo and acting independently, the alumnus supported people on the streets and persons living with disabilities with food to mark the New Year, demonstrating compassion and leadership in action.

As Yalians we are committed to creating meaningful community impact, and this initiative reflects the values we instill in our leaders. I commend this effort and look forward to more alumni led actions that uplift lives in 2026.
