Engaging with West Africa Civil Society Institute (WACSI) in 4-days digital security training has equipped our organization with vital skills to protect our organization's digital assets and enhance our resilience. We will apply these learnings to strengthen our cybersecurity measures, ensuring the safety of our data and systems. This will enable us to continue our impactful work in early childhood education, peace education, and entrepreneurship programs without interruption.

Through prioritizing digital security, we will build trust with our stakeholders and maintain our integrity. We are excited to share these best practices with other organizations and contribute to a safer digital environment for our organization, beneficiaries and partners.

Our Story

INTRODUCTION: Movement towards Education and Youth Empowerment - Sierra Leone (MEYE-SL) is a Non-Governmental Organization established in August 2016 by a team of young Sierra Leonean professionals with its head office in Bo City, Southern Province, Sierra Leone. MEYE-SL has deep trust in the need to put Youth and children at the center of their own transformation, believing in the capacity of Youth and children to initiate and promote processes that can eliminate factors that inhibit their holistic development with the determination to work as a unit and to increase their self-reliance capacities. Movements towards Education and Youth Empowerment-Sierra Leone (MEYE-SL) has been established to help work with disadvantaged Youth and children in communities that need empowerment and self-reliance for themselves. This wish to release them from the claws of persistent poverty, unemployment, poor education, and violence (which could have related to the outbreak of the past eleven (11) years brutal civil war and the recent Ebola outbreak in Sierra Leone). The organization works with underprivileged rural communities in response to poverty reduction, access to education, peace and security, entrepreneurship skills trainings and youth and women empowerment.

In 2017, MEYE-SL started operations in One (1) chiefdom in Bo district, in the southern part of Sierra Leone. Over the years, the organization expanded its operations in another chiefdom and communities in the Moyamba district. Until recently, the organization has been directly delivering services in the areas of school sponsorship, peace building and security, and Youth empowerment (through entrepreneurship skills training with a strong bias towards women and children’s rights, peace and security, human security, livelihood support and accountability).

Through peace promotion, educational support, social and economic approaches to poverty reduction, MEYE-SL has been working to address the peace, security and socio-economic issues of disadvantaged Youth, women and children in underprivileged rural communities within Sierra Leone. MEYE-SL’s work has been guided by previous national and global organizational strategies and specific thematic strategies in terms of service delivering.
