Scissor beak in falcons is a deformity in which upper and lower beak go in different directions- they cross. Our members had the opportunity to cope the scissor beak of the falcon. In this case the curve starts from the cere and there is probably no possibility to completely correct it. So we tried at least to trim it, so it's easier for the falcon to eat and have nice life.

16.11 World Falconry Day
As every year, we like to remember the day, when falconry was inscripted as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
It's also a day where all falconers celebrate companionship between each other and their birds, all the friendships we developed through years on hunts together and last but not least awareness of the general public through falconry shows.
Lovu a sokoliarstvu zdar!

During the week of the 21. to the 25. of october, Slovakia hosted the annual meeting of the International Association for Falconry and conservation of birds of prey in Galanta. Some of our members were able to attend this special event accompanied by the garant of our club, Assoc. Professor Molnár.
On Tuesday, they attended program in ZŠ Maximiliána Hella in Štiavnicke Bane, it’s the first school who teach falconry as mandatory subject and lead children to love nature and protect biodiversity. Children offered a slovak traditional program and falconry show to delegates from 30 countries. We would like to thank the headmaster of the school Ing. Pavel Michal for his great work!
After this, our members and other delegates moved to the hunting exposition in the Manor house Svätý Anton.
During the rest of the week, they attended the hunting with their birds.
It was a very interesting week during which our members had the opportunity to meet falconers from all over the world.

Assoc. professor Korytár banding rehabilitated kestrels during University summer camp for children 👨‍⚕️👩‍⚕️

The UVMP falconry and raptor rehabilitation club is as said in his name also involved in rehabilitation, most of the birds we receive are kestrels fledgling that are in need of some more time in care before getting ready to fly free again.

Almost every wild bird under our care goes through the process of banding (putting an ornithological ring on their left leg) once they have developed their muscle in our flying aviary. The goal of bird banding is to be able to have data from them later if they are found again, or pictures of them are taken, with the unique ring number we are able to know when they were banded and it can give us information about their age, migration, survival rate in nature etc.
If the bird is recaptured in a banding station, we will also have information about the growth of the bird through the measures of different parameters such as the wing, tarsal, and tail length.

Everything is done with the approval of state organisation and by authorised people that followed an appropriate formation, do not try to raise and manipulate wild animals without authorisation.
