In Germany, grave plots are typically leased for a fixed period, and the headstones are generally removed after this period ends, which usually ranges from 20 to 30 years depending on the cemetery and local regulations. Is there any particular interest to keep that particular stone so long after its expiry?
Well for graves with coffins you have to rent the grave for 20-30 and sometimes even for 40 years, depending on the properties of the ground and pay in advance. After that period of time, there's not much left and what's left simply stays in the ground when they reuse the grave and give it to someone new. The tombstone is taken away by a mason and ends up as eg. cobblestone.
opp we have so many examples of obvious abuse, happening today - so what is not to be forgotten if it is not even remembered?
