What will Europe look like in 2035? 🌍✨

The 2nd international SustiBridge event (CERV programme) recently took place in Budapest, bringing together 42 participants from 8 European countries. Ditching digital screens for flipcharts and roleplay, youth workers and experts teamed up to design visionary solutions for future social and environmental challenges. 🤝🇪🇺

🇪🇺 Shaping the Future of Rural Youth: Highlights from the RurALL Project Meeting in Cenon!

On June 12-13, partners of the RurALL project (funded by the CERV programme) gathered in the beautiful town of Cenon for an inspiring and productive study visit focused on the impact of youth on the future of Europe.

Here is a look back at our amazing itinerary:

👉 Day 1: Official Welcome & City Exploration

We kicked off at the Cenon Town Hall with warm welcomes from the Mayor of Cenon, Mr. Jean-Francois Egron, and the Mayor of Vouzela, Mr. Carlos Oliveira, representing the lead partner.

We explored Cenon’s innovative public spaces, including L'Estacade (an incredible sports facility built right under a railway track), an inclusive swimming pool optimized for children and people with reduced mobility, and the Utopia cinema.

A truly inspiring stop was the Michelet Elementary School, where the principal, Mr. Julien Delzon, and project coordinator, Mr. Mathieu Bonnamy, introduced us to an educational environment welcoming children from 87 different nationalities!

The afternoon ended on a festive note at the historic Cypressat Wine Festival (dating back to 1152!), where Mayor Carlos Oliveira was awarded the title of honorary member.

👉 Day 2: Knowledge Sharing & Certificates

The second day was dedicated to sharing best practices and case studies on the crucial topic of "Leadership and political participation of rural youth."

We concluded our visit at the impressive Le Rocher de Palmer contemporary music venue, featuring three state-of-the-art concert halls, followed by the official delivery of certificates to all participants.

How do we build a society that truly leaves no one behind? 🌍✨

From May 12th to 15th, 2026, Novo mesto became the central European hub for dialogue on inclusion. Organized by the Association for the Development of Voluntary Work Novo mesto (DRPDNM), the international seminar "DiverCity – Building Inclusive Societies: Strategies for Local Authorities" took place under the framework of the European CERV project.

The seminar brought together experts, young activists, and decision-makers from seven countries with a single goal: to identify and eliminate systemic discrimination within local communities and to transform theoretical concepts of justice into real street actions.

Take a look at the highlights of this dynamic event – from inspiring round tables and the experiential "Human Library" method under the motto "Don't judge a book by its cover," to a guided walk along the "Forgotten Half" trail and expression through movement and dance that connects beyond words.

DiverCity proves that when we stand together, invisible barriers simply disappear. 🤝💡

🇪🇺 Real-world activism and local governance in focus!

From 15–18 June, DRPD participated alongside with partners from 8 European countries in the second international event titled "Beyond Voting – New Forms of Civic Engagement" of the project ZA4NED: Generation Z & Alpha in the Driver’s Seat for Youth Participation and European Democracy in Niš, Serbia! 🇷🇸

On the first day, we had an eye-opening session learning about the current Serbian protests directly from three young local protesters and their professor, who shared their demands and experiences. We also took a guided tour to discover the rich history and culture of Niš!

On the second day, we visited the Municipality of Medijana to understand how local government functions, the challenges they face, and their relation to the wider City of Niš. Through roundtables and digital campaign workshops, we worked on bridging the gap between youth activism and local policy-making.

A huge thank you to the hosts and the Municipality of Medijana for their hospitality.

Culture is a living, breathing organism that unites us. ✨ 🇸🇮🇷🇸🇧🇦🇭🇷🇭🇺🇮🇹🇲🇪

In Novo mesto, as part of the international conference for the “The Culture is Cool” project, we celebrated European diversity in all its splendour. During the Week of Cultures festival, our Main Square was transformed into a lively international hub, where more than 500 guests from seven partner countries, as well as visitors from Kosovo, Albania, North Macedonia, Romania, Bulgaria, and elsewhere, joined locals to create an unforgettable atmosphere. The entire project is co-funded by the European Union under the CERV programme.

Culture is the invisible fabric that binds us together and the lens through which we view the world. We demonstrated this with a wonderful International Market, culinary delights, dance, and an interactive digital treasure hunt. Thank you to everyone who helped create these priceless networks of empathy and genuine human connection. 🌍❤️

Technology must be a bridge, not a barrier! 🌉✨

The "SustiBridge in Novo mesto.mp4" video captures the highlights from the Pan-European Opening Conference of the SustiBridge project (part of the CERV programme), hosted by Društvo za razvijanje prostovoljnega dela Novo mesto (DRPD). 🌍💡

The event brought together 112 participants from 8 European countries with a shared vision: making the green and digital transition inclusive for all generations. From insightful discussions on digital accessibility to smart & green local strategies, the message was clear—true innovation means leaving no one behind. 🤝❤️

🇪🇺 Traveling to the Year 2035: Successfully Concluding the 2nd Event of the SustiBridge Project in Budapest! 🇭🇺🚀
From May 26th to 28th, Budapest hosted the 2nd international event under the CERV project SustiBridge! 🌟 41 motivated participants from 8 partner countries gathered and were ready to co-create a more sustainable, inclusive, and connected future. 🤝✨
The main highlight of the three-day gathering was an intensive and highly creative workshop. 💡 We were set a very special challenge – to leap into the year 2035 ⏳ and find solutions to key social and environmental challenges facing Europe as "super teams"! 🌍🦸‍♂️
The work took place in dynamic groups, where each team addressed a completely different problem and a distinct vulnerable target group. 🎯👥 However, they all shared a common goal: To develop innovative, serious, and official sustainability concepts with a strong "WOW effect." 😮💥
Since the rules explicitly required the use of traditional tools, participants poured their visions onto flipcharts and drew posters instead of using screens, and even tested their skills in roleplays! The teams also had to demonstrate exceptional adaptability and prepare contingency plans to optimize their projects in the event of unforeseen financial risks or budget cuts. 💰⚠️
The diversity of ideas, high level of empathy, and readiness to solve real-world problems showed just how powerful collaboration is when we join forces for a shared future. 💪🌱
Thank you to the organizers, Ecocenter Alapítvány 🇭🇺, for their excellent hospitality and organization 🙏, and to all participants for their incredible energy and inspiring discussions. ✨ We are returning home with new knowledge on connecting nature, technology, and social solidarity! 🌿🤖🤝

Exciting RurAll Project Meeting in Croatia! 🇭🇷

We had a productive time in Križevci as part of the CERV project RurAll, focusing on democratic participation in rural areas.

Highlights included:
🍫 Visiting the social enterprise "Hedon" to learn about their inspiring work in social inclusion and chocolate production.
🎓 An insightful session at the Ivan Seljanec Secondary School, where students shared creative projects on connecting cultural heritage with democracy.
🇪🇺 A visit to the European Parliament Liaison Office in Croatia to discuss how European institutions support rural development.

The event concluded with a great discussion on the role of women in rural democracy and empowerment. Next stop: Cenon and Bordeaux! 🇫🇷

🌍 DiverCity in Novo mesto: Moving from Theory to Practice! 🤝

We successfully hosted the international seminar for the DiverCity – Building Inclusive Societies project (co-funded by the EU CERV programme), welcoming partners and decision-makers from 7 European countries! 🇪🇺✨

Led by Ester Snedec, the two-day event was packed with inspiration, deep reflections, and experiential learning:

🔹 Day 1: Opened by Deputy Mayor Sara Tomšič and DRPDNM's Tina Cigler, who highlighted local impact tools like the Urbanka card and participatory budgeting. We hosted a powerful roundtable with experts Mitja Blažič, Matej Auguštin, and Milica Tanasković, uncovering "invisible barriers" in our systems. The afternoon was topped off by an amazing performance by our own DRPD dance group led by Daniela! 💃🎶

🔹 Day 2: We kicked off with the intensive “Breaking Down Stereotypes” workshop, followed by a professional presentation of the Living Library methodology by Maja Žunič Fabjančič. Participants engaged in deep 1-on-1 conversations with our "living books." We wrapped up the seminar with a historic field walk through Novo mesto's “Forgotten Half” with Klavdija Kotar. 📖🚶‍♀️

🙌 Youth Power: We were thrilled to see so many young people and youth workers participating with incredible energy, critical thinking, and a drive for change!

📈 The Results? Our partners gave the organization, roundtable, and field activities a perfect 5/5 rating! This proves that we are on the right track to building more open, accessible, and inclusive cities across Europe.

Thank you to everyone who made this event unforgettable! Next stop: continuing the journey with our amazing international consortium. 🌟
