On 22 May 2026, Poljoprivredno-prehrambeni fakultet hosted activities marking the ๐ˆ๐ง๐ญ๐ž๐ซ๐ง๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐š๐ฅ ๐ƒ๐š๐ฒ ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ซ ๐๐ข๐จ๐ฅ๐จ๐ ๐ข๐œ๐š๐ฅ ๐ƒ๐ข๐ฏ๐ž๐ซ๐ฌ๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ, together with the ๐ˆ๐ง๐ญ๐ž๐ซ๐๐ž๐ฉ๐š๐ซ๐ญ๐ฆ๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐š๐ฅ ๐Œ๐ž๐ž๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐€๐ ๐ซ๐ข๐œ๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ญ๐ฎ๐ซ๐š๐ฅ ๐„๐œ๐จ๐ง๐จ๐ฆ๐ข๐ฌ๐ญ๐ฌ ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ” in Sarajevo.

The event co-organised by our project partner CENER 21, Center for Energy, Environment and Resources brought together representatives of the academic community, experts, researchers, students and regional stakeholders, creating an important platform for dialogue on the future of sustainable agriculture, biodiversity protection, soil health and climate-resilient land management.

The project was presented, highlighting the role of carbon farming in supporting climate change mitigation and adaptation, improving soil health, enhancing sustainable land management, and creating new opportunities through the development of carbon markets. The discussion addressed the practical application of carbon farming practices, their potential benefits and challenges, as well as the importance of monitoring, reporting and verification (MRV) tools in supporting evidence-based decision-making.

The event also emphasized the importance of connecting science, education, policy and practice in order to strengthen regional cooperation and support the transition towards more sustainable, resilient and biodiversity-friendly agricultural systems.

offered a valuable opportunity to explore how regenerative practices such as soil cover management, reduced tillage and crop diversification are applied in real conditions, contributing to soil health, resilience and carbon sequestration.

By connecting policy discussions and technical tools with on-the-ground implementation, the visit highlighted a key message:

Carbon farming can sound promising in theory. ๐ŸŒฑ

But for many smaller farms, the real question is whether it is actually affordable to join.

When MRV, certification, and carbon crediting costs fall on each farm separately, the barrier can become too high.

That is why aggregation matters. ๐Ÿ’ก

It can help farms share costs, lower barriers, and make carbon farming more realistic for the farms expected to adopt it.

The programme also featured exchanges between stakeholders on financing the transition to sustainable agriculture, farmer perspectives on implementation and policy recommendations for scaling carbon farming across Mediterranean agroecosystems and concluded with a field visit to Verdcamp Fruits pilot farm.
