On March 28, 2026, in Rust, a town near Eisenstadt, Austria, a regular meeting of the CTIF International Firefighting Competitions Commission was held, chaired by the chairman of the commission, Klaus-Georg Franke.

The meeting was attended by representatives from 11 CTIF member countries, and CTIF
was represented by CTIF Vice President Nedeljko Vukalović (Croatia). The host was Harald Josef Nakovich, Deputy Fire Chief of the Austrian federal state of Burgenland.

The meeting presented reports on the preparations for the firefighting, youth firefighting and firefighting sports competitions, which will be held this year in July and August in Eisenstadt (Austria), Šumperk (Czech Republic) and Ostrava (Czech Republic).

One of the agenda items proposed the leadership of the international firefighting competition in Eisenstadt, consisting of;

Hubert Silgoner (Italy), Nedeljko Vukalović (Croatia), Klaus-Georg Franke and Thomas Reuter (Germany), Andrej Grgović (Slovenia) and Eduard Kammerer and Ludwig Laut (Austria).
Harald Josef Nakovich, host representative and deputy fire chief of Burgenland, presented the preparations for the upcoming competition, the preparation of which is at an advanced stage.

In the second part of the meeting, new officials were proposed for management positions in the CTIF firefighting competition commission, based on the proposal of the national firefighting associations, and they were elected and will take up their duties on 1 August 2026.

Thomas Reuter (Germany) was elected as the head of the CTIF international firefighting competition commission, and Ludwig Laut (Austria) was elected as the head of the international firefighting competition.

After the meeting, all those present visited the fields in Eisenstadt where the training and competition of firefighters will be held, the schools where the accommodation for the participants of the competition will be, etc.

National teams from 17 countries have registered for the upcoming competition of firefighters in Eisenstadt, with around 1,500 competitors and around 3,000-5,000 fans are expected.
