Are you directly involved in the management of a World Heritage site?

ICOMOS, ICCROM - conserving culture, promoting diversity and IUCN are inviting heritage professionals working with cultural, natural and mixed World Heritage sites (and other heritage places) to participate in an interactive online consultation on the development of management plans.

Some applications are particularly encouraged โ€“ notably, from managers of World Heritage properties which:
โ–ซ๏ธ do not yet have a management plan;
โ–ซ๏ธ have outdated or incomplete management plans;
โ–ซ๏ธ are currently developing or revising a management plan or similar planning instrument.

The consultation aims to identify the needs, challenges and priorities faced by site managers in preparing effective management systems and future guidance.

๐ŸŒ•ICOMOS recently participated as a permanent observer at the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (UN COPUOS) Subcommittee meeting in Vienna.

Dr Bryan Lintott (right), Secretary-General of ICOMOS Aerospace Heritage, and Cyrill Von Planta (left), ICLAFI and ICOMOS Treasurer General, delivered an introductory presentation on ICOMOS.

They engaged with numerous delegates to discuss how ICOMOS can contribute its international expertise and experience to the development of effective governance and robust management techniques for heritage sites and monuments on the Moon and beyond.

Looking ahead, ICOMOS will contribute to the UN COPUOS Action Team on Lunar Activities Consultation (ATLAC), and participate in the upcoming annual UN COPUOS meeting.

๐ŸŒ The issue of the night sky being diminished by mass constellations of bright satellites and general light pollution was another heritage related topic of discussion at the meeting.

ICOMOS is unveiling the FuturHist Knowledge HUB: a brand-new digital platform dedicated to resources on energy retrofit solutions compatible with the conservation of historic buildings.

The Knowledge Hub brings together documentation on:

โ–ซ๏ธ practical tools & best practices
โ–ซ๏ธ capacity-building materials

Developed as part of the European FuturHist project, of which ICOMOS is a partner, the platform helps professionals in adapting historic buildings to todayโ€™s climate challenges, without compromising their cultural value.

During the launch webinar, youโ€™ll discover how the HUB works, how to use its resources, and how to contribute.
