Our IIT Slovenia 2026 journey has begun. 💕

From different parts of the world, we’ve come together in the beautiful surroundings of Pohorje, Slovenia, for nine days of connection, learning, and exploring how we can contribute to social change.

Together with our trainers - Roxy Manning, Jürgen Engel, Sudha Shankar, Iris Bawidamann, and John Kinyon - we’re creating space to deepen our understanding of ourselves, connect across differences, and explore what becomes possible when we come together.

We’re getting closer to IIT, and I find myself feeling more and more excited about the people who will gather in Pohorje this October. 🤍

As organisers, we’re genuinely happy for every person who decides to join us. And we also know that saying yes to something like IIT can come with some hesitation.

What can stay with you 20 years after an IIT? A personal reflection from Marjeta Novak, one of Slovenia’s most experienced NVC trainers. 💚

20 years ago, my participation in an International Intensive Training (IIT) in Nonviolent Communication (NVC) changed my life.

Witnessing radical compassion in practice, and learning how to embody and practise it myself, was a deeply transformative experience. It was the start of a lifelong journey to co-create a world where we can embrace different perspectives, see the bigger picture, and make wiser decisions together, while honouring the values, needs and qualities of the people involved or impacted.

It has also been a deep personal journey of listening to my own body, feelings and needs, and finding ways to act in the world with grace and skill. In practice, NVC was critical when co-parenting three teenagers as a mum and stepmum. We’re still good friends, even though the family system has changed in the meantime.

This October, from 16–25 October, a team of five renowned international trainers will host an immersive nine-day IIT experience in my native Slovenia, in a beautiful setting surrounded by forests.

Imagine spending nine days immersed in Nonviolent Communication, surrounded by forest.

From 16 to 25 October, Pohorje Village Wellbeing Resort will become home to IIT Slovenia 2026, a nine-day International Intensive Training in Nonviolent Communication.

We’ll learn together, share meals, meet people from different parts of the world and slowly become a community.

Set 1,050 metres above sea level, the resort sits among the forests of Pohorje in northeastern Slovenia. Step outside and you are already in nature, with paths leading through the trees and views across the surrounding hills.

The IIT also includes an integration day with more time to rest and let the experience settle. You might choose a quiet walk through the autumn forest, follow one of the nearby trails, visit the Skalca waterfall or take the cable car down to Maribor. Others may prefer the pools and saunas at WellNest, a slow conversation over coffee or simply an afternoon with nowhere else to be.

Pohorje is known for its vast forests, walking trails, waterfalls and peaceful mountain landscape. Just below it lies Maribor, Slovenia’s second-largest city and home to the oldest grapevine in the world.

A place to step away from everyday life for a while and give your full attention to learning, connection and everything that may unfold along the way.

ONE MONTH TO GO

In just one month we’ll meet in Pohorje for IIT Slovenia 2026.

From 16–25 October people from different parts of the world will come together to explore and practice Nonviolent Communication.

We’ll be joined by five CNVC trainers:
Roxy Manning · Iris Bawidamann · Jürgen Engel · Sudha Shankar · John Kinyon

There will be four parallel sessions each day, so you can choose what you want to explore more deeply. If you’re newer to NVC, there will also be a beginner track during the first three days.

And all of this will happen surrounded by the beautiful Pohorje forests. 🌲

What makes someone want to return to an IIT — 14 years later?

An IIT (International Intensive Training) is a 9-day immersive training in Nonviolent Communication (NVC) — a space for learning, practice, personal exploration and connection with people from around the world.

Lena attended her first IIT in 2012, looking for ways to deepen her connection with others and with herself.

This October, she is coming back — this time to IIT Slovenia. We asked her what stayed with her from that first experience, what is bringing her back now, and what she would say to someone considering an IIT for the first time.

One sentence from her reflection stayed with us:

“I have never met more compassion concentrated in one place than at the IIT.”

What if stability isn’t something we need to get from the outside?
