We spend thousands after a su***de.

Yet we hesitate to spend $30 learning how to respond before a crisis escalates.

Something is wrong with that.

$30 cannot guarantee that a life will be saved and this training will not make you a therapist.

But it can help you become someone who:

• recognises the warning signs
• asks directly about su***de
• responds without panic or judgement
• connects someone to appropriate help

Because when someone says, “I don’t want to be here anymore,” not knowing what to say should not be our only option.

Join Project Nanba: Su***de First-Response Training.

📍 Open to ages 16+
💵 $30 per person
👥 Only 15 participants per run

Run 1 — Attend both sessions
30 September, 7.00–8.30pm via Zoom
1 October, 7.00–9.30pm at The Foundry

Run 2 — In person
17 October, 10.00am–2.00pm at The Foundry

We keep telling people to “reach out” when they’re suicidal.

But how many of us actually know what to do when they do? Would you know what to say next?

Su***de prevention cannot only be the responsibility of counsellors, social workers, doctors or crisis lines. Sometimes, the first person someone speaks to is you.

Project Nanba is Mental ACT’s practical su***de first-response training for people who want to be better prepared to recognise warning signs, have difficult conversations, respond safely and connect someone to further help.

No empty “mental health matters” slogans.
No pretending one Instagram post is su***de prevention.
We need people who are actually equipped to respond.

$30 per person | Ages 16+ | Only 15 places per run

Choose either:
Run 1: 30 Sep online + 1 Oct in person
Run 2: 17 Oct in person

If we can learn CPR for a physical emergency, why shouldn’t more of us learn what to do in a suicidal crisis?

Today, grief met me in an unexpected way.

This morning, I realised I had forgotten my late friend’s birthday—the friend whose life and death began my journey in mental health advocacy a decade ago. I felt deeply guilty.

Then, while watching the play, I saw both of us in Jim. I saw my friend, his pain and the questions he left behind. But I also saw parts of myself—my own relationship with suicidal thoughts and what it means to keep choosing life.

Perhaps remembering someone is not only about remembering a date. It is about continuing the work their life inspired.

If this reflection has brought up difficult emotions or you are experiencing suicidal thoughts, please DM us, email [email protected], or call 9619 3531. We are here for you.

Mental ACT wants to keep showing up for people when they need someone—but we cannot do it without support. If you believe this work matters, please donate to our fundraiser. Details are in our bio. Every contribution helps us keep hope and support within reach.

From 2017 through the provisional 2025 count, 598 Indians in Singapore died by su***de. Indians remain disproportionately represented in su***de deaths. Yet culturally responsive support, trained responders and clear crisis procedures still need greater investment.

This is not about blaming people who do not know what to do. It is an invitation to learn, act and help build a stronger response around someone experiencing suicidal distress.

Your donation helps Mental ACT strengthen su***de-prevention training, counselling, crisis support and culturally responsive services for underserved communities.

Donate through the link in our bio. You can also train or volunteer with us.

Together, we can change the narrative on su***de.

Silence should never feel like the only option.

Today, on World Su***de Prevention Day, Mental ACT is launching “From Silence to Support” - a fundraising campaign to help make compassionate and culturally responsive mental-health support more accessible to minority and underserved communities.

Swipe to learn why this work matters and how your support can help.

Support us through the link in our bio.

If you are unable to donate, please share this campaign personally with your family, friends and colleagues. One share could help this campaign reach someone who needs support.

Together, we can change the narrative on su***de - one conversation, one connection and one community at a time.

Crisis-support information is available on the final slide.
