We had the privilege of spending time with residents at People's Association Radin Mas during a stroke prevention and awareness session. It was truly heartening to see so many come together in the morning, making time to learn about what a stroke can mean for someoneโ€™s life and how each of us can play a part in supporting stroke survivors within our community.

Moments like these are a reminder that awareness is not just about information โ€”it is about empathy, understanding and the willingness to stand beside one another when life changes unexpectedly.

A sincere thank you to our befrienders for your unwavering dedication and quiet determination in raising awareness and encouraging those around you.

๐Ÿ’œ Meet our befrienders like Eddie, who walk alongside many in their journey at our Stepping Out For Stroke (SOFS) 2026.

Our stroke survivors recently headed to Marina One for our "Walk in the Park x Phonetography" programme, where they spent the morning exploring nature through both their eyes and their camera lenses.

From lush greenery to hidden details and scenic corners, participants took their time capturing the beauty around them while a refreshing walk together. Along the way, there were plenty of smiles, shared photography tips, and moments worth remembering.

Proof that a good walk, great company and a camera phone are all you need for a wonderful day out. ๐Ÿ’š

Recently, SNSA had the privilege of having Irene and Daniel, to SPD Toa Payoh and Canberra to share their personal stroke journeys and recovery experiences with the community. Through their heartfelt stories, participants gained deeper insight into the realities of stroke, the importance of early intervention through health screening and early symptoms to protect themselves and their loved ones.

Thank you to our survivors for courageously sharing their experiences and to SPD for having us. Together, we continue to raise awareness and empower our community towards stroke prevention and recovery support.

A day immersed in the wonders of wildlife and nature at Mandai Wildlife Reserve ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿฆ

Through days like these, the peaceful steps and friendships that walk alongside one another make for an outing that fosters understanding and hope. It is through the thoughtful acts of slowing down oneโ€™s steps, pausing for a break and a laugh, and extending kindness to be part of one anotherโ€™s journey that lasting friendships are built and a sense of belonging within the community is strengthened.

Thank you to everyone who made this outing a meaningful and memorable experience for our survivors. Your presence, care, and support helped make the day truly special.

๐ŸŒฑ Rise Together

During our recent Tea with ED session, one of our members shared a thought that stayed with us: "I think what can really differentiate SNSA is that it is a platform where stroke survivors can work together to build dreams and success for one another."

The comment sparked a meaningful conversation.

At SNSA, we have the privilege of seeing stroke survivors support one another in many different ways. Some become befrienders. Some volunteer at events and programmes. Others share their experiences, encourage fellow survivors and help those who are earlier in their recovery journey.

Recently, feedback from participants in our leather craft programme revealed something encouraging. Beyond learning a new skill, many participants expressed a desire to contribute, support others and give back to the community.

This reminds us that recovery is not only about receiving support.
It is also about rediscovering purpose, confidence and the ability to make a difference in the lives of others.

When survivors support survivors, something powerful happens. A community is built. Friendships are formed. Hope is shared.

At SNSA, we believe recovery is a journey best travelled together.
Because sometimes, the greatest impact comes not from what we do for one another, but from what we inspire one another to become.

We are proud to share that SNSA member and stroke survivor Terence Ang was honoured with the Inspirational Patient Award at the Singapore Health Inspirational Patient & Caregiver Awards 2026.

A stroke survivor and aphasia advocate, Terence has turned his recovery journey into one of courage, creativity and advocacy. Through his writing, poetry, art and public sharing, he continues to raise awareness of stroke recovery, aphasia, and the often invisible struggles many survivors face after leaving hospital care.

Following his stroke in 2020, Terence faced significant physical and communication challenges. Yet through determination and resilience, he rebuilt his life and found a new voice through writing.

Today, his works and advocacy continue to inspire many within the stroke community and beyond.

Congratulations, Terence. Your journey is a powerful reminder that recovery is not only about healing, but also about hope, purpose and using oneโ€™s story to uplift others.
