Hagar Singapore

Hagar Singapore Hagar restores to wholeness the lives of women and children in Afghanistan, Cambodia, Singapore & Vietnam that have been torn apart by human rights abuse.

Hagar is an international organisation committed to the recovery of trafficked, abused, and exploited women and children through restorative programmes and social enterprises. In Singapore, we work closely with the Government's Inter-Agency Taskforce on Trafficking-in-Persons on initiatives to enhance understanding of human trafficking within the local enforcement community, and provide critical trauma recovery services to girls who have been trafficked to Singapore for sexual exploitation.

Some stories stop you in your tracks.

This is one of them.

Aly’s words. Aly’s strength. And over the coming weeks, we’re sharing her full story, what she survived, what she built, and what she’s making possible for others.

Stay close.

Most people know that trafficking is a problem. Fewer know what happens after someone gets out.

Recovery isn't a single moment -- it's shelter, then safety, then slowly beginning to trust again. It's legal advice, counselling, learning a skill, finishing school. It's nonlinear and long, and it requires people who show up not just once, but consistently, for as long as it takes 🩵

At Hagar, that's exactly what we do. Swipe to see what the journey looks like ➡️🫶

Some mothers have carried burdens no one should ever have to carry.

Today, we honour every mother -- who nurtures quietly, loves fiercely, sacrifices endlessly, and keeps showing up no matter what.

We especially hold close the mothers who have walked through pain, survived trafficking and unimaginable circumstances, and found the strength to rebuild again and again. ❣️

To every mother and mother figure: you are seen, valued, and deeply honoured. Happy Mother’s Day🌷

Today’s a bittersweet one at Hagar - we’re saying goodbye (for now) to our standout intern, Samantha 💛🥲

Turning 19, she came in for two months… and left a lasting mark. From shaping our Youth Chapter to driving a dedicated creative project we’re building towards a potential 2027 launch (stay tuned ✨), Samantha didn’t just contribute – she created, led, and inspired.

But beyond all she’s done, it’s her heart, courage, and joy that we’ll miss most. Not quite goodbye (thankfully!!), she’ll still be journeying with us as she heads into university, yay!! 🔥

Thank you, Sam, for giving Hagar far more than we could have ever asked for. You are truly one in a million – we’re so proud of you, and excited for all that lies ahead. Onwards and upwards! 💪🏻🙌🏻🌷

Maliha* was only 17 when she was told, without warning, that she was getting married 😣

What followed were years of abuse, forced separation from her children, and a mental health crisis that put her in a psychiatric facility for six months.

And yet, with Hagar’s help, she is now rebuilding her life with hope 🫶♥️

This is what resilience looks like. Swipe to read her powerful story! 👏

(*Maliha’s name is changed for her protection)

PTSD doesn't end when the danger does 😣

For many trafficking survivors, the hardest part of healing is invisible -- a nervous system that learned to survive by staying vigilant. Understanding this isn't just important for clinicians. It matters for all of us!

Swipe to learn what PTSD actually looks like for survivors, and why the way Hagar responds makes all the difference ❤️

Blessed Easter from our Hagar family to yours! 💖

Today we celebrate the truth at the heart of this season: that new beginnings are real, and that no darkness is permanent.

Every day, Hagar walks alongside survivors who are living proof of that -- people who have come through unimaginable pain and are rebuilding their lives into something new and beautiful 🌿

Thank you for being part of our community that makes this hope real! 😊

When one man trapped in a scam compound in Myanmar found a way to send a desperate email, Hagar's network moved 💻

With partners from the US, Vietnam and on the ground in Myanmar, Hagar’s network helped set in motion an operation that brought 2,000 people home.

This is what Hagar exists for: fast, trusted, cross-border response when it matters most! There is hope with Hagar 💗
