Harmony Circles

Harmony Circles Welcome to the official page of the Racial and Religious Harmony Circle (Harmony Circle). Visit us at www.harmonycircle.sg.

The Harmony Circle serves as important bridges between religious, ethnic and community groups at the local level. Leaders from various religious, ethnic and other community organisations have come together to join the Harmony Circle networks to build friendships and trust. The Harmony Circle also aims to deepen people's understanding of the various faiths, beliefs and practices through inter-faith

and inter-ethnic themed activities such as inter-faith heritage trails, inter-faith talks and dialogues and various ethnic and religious celebrations. The Harmony Circle is also primed to respond quickly to incidents with racial and religious tensions and to project solidarity on the ground during crises.

We visited River of Life Community Church (ROLC) on 10 June 2026 to introduce ourselves and learn about its mission. Established in Punggol North 24 years ago, ROLC is a well-known presence in the neighbourhood, having pre-dated the new public housing developments around it. We met with Pastor Frank and Weng Chee and discussed ROLC’s history and engagements in the community. We shared ideas about joint-collaboration with other religious organisations within Punggol GRC.

We were encouraged to learn about ROLC’s contributions within the neighbourhood over the years. We thank ROLC for the warm hospitality and look forward to welcoming them to join more interfaith activities in Punggol GRC!

Under the light of the full moon in May, the Buddhist community prepares to celebrate Vesak Day, the holiest day in their calendar. Among the customs, “Bathing of the Buddha” is recognised as a powerful symbol of spiritual cleansing and renewal of self.

The ritual serves as an invitation to look inwards and reflect upon one’s intentions, to be compassionate and spread kindness, following in the ways of Buddha. As we celebrate with our Buddhist friends, let this be a reminder that a little more peace within ourselves leads to a lot more harmony around us.

Beyond the festivities of Hari Raya Haji lies a powerful story of devotion, with Muslims honouring Prophet Ibrahim, who demonstrated unwavering faith by his willingness to sacrifice what he loved most in obedience to Allah.

Today, the sacrifice serves as a profound reminder that true faith is often found in our ability to be selfless and service to others. The sacrificial meat is shared across the community, ensuring that the spirit of the festival is felt by everyone, especially those in need. As we witness these traditions in our neighbourhoods, it's a meaningful time to reflect on the universal values of empathy and sacrifice that ties us all together.

In the spirit of renewal, the Jewish community in Singapore celebrated Shavuot last week, marking the sacred receiving of the Torah.

Known as the "Feast of Weeks," it is a time for deep reflection, late-night study, and the sharing of dairy treats like cheesecake. These traditions symbolise a "land flowing with milk and honey," honoring the sweetness of wisdom and the bonds of heritage. At its heart, Shavuot celebrates Chessed — acts of loving-kindness that sustain a community and foster mutual care. Just as the Torah serves as a guide for living, this festival reminds us that our collective strength lies in our shared values.

It’s a new season of change with one shared vision — keep our communities talking.

As our new leaders step up following the Harmony Circle National Appointment Ceremony, we are focused on establishing our networks of trusts, tapping into more outreach opportunities and continuing conversations with our youths. Sharing learnings and perspectives with one another, our leaders will continue to engage our communities for meaningful change in our society.

Harmony does not happen by chance, it's by design. And we are ready to hit the ground running.

In the heart of April, the Baháʼí community in Singapore commemorates the festival of Riḍván, their holiest time of the year. Riḍván, which means "Paradise," marks a 12-day period of profound spiritual significance.

Baháʼí faith believes in the oneness of humankind, where humanity is one human family. Just as a garden is more beautiful because of its variety of flowers, our society is stronger because of our diversity. As our Baháʼí friends celebrate this season of joy and efforts to bring about unity in diversity, it’s a beautiful reminder for all of us: unity isn't about being the same, but rather of nurturing a sense of community and responsibility to one another.
