P2PRCYSymposium

P2PRCYSymposium It is a platform for our youths to experience the ‘Red Cross Volunteering Spirit’ and also share their voluntary experiences with local and int'l members.

In a youth driven initiative, a Direct Service element is added to a Peer-to-Peer Youth symposium to empower youth to support various causes and the elderly. On 13 December, a group of youth volunteers would be embarking on a journey to support the cause of youth empowerment in youth volunteerism towards various causes and the elderly by hosting an inaugural youth symposium in NTU involving youth

and adult delegates from eight countries. As a youth for youths group in support of the Red Cross, these youth volunteers would be stepping out of their comfort zone to bring causes related to the elderly and community to light. They would work towards a plan of action with expert international panelists to guide the resultant discussions and harness the learning from one another. This brings smiles, joy and inspires youth through empowerment to this big issue. To put words into action, plans discussed will be followed up with Direct service the following day after the symposium with sustainable community service plans. Youth will be able to experience the intrinsic satisfaction of direct service with elderly from Jamiyah and a team of Red Cross Youth would work on long term plans that will include harnessing the energy and ideas of more youth from Red Cross Youth -Chapter schools in support of the long-term Community Led Action for Resilience - Elderly plans of the Singapore Red Cross, targeting youths from various constituencies to bring direct joy and spreading the experience of positive intrinsic volunteerism to like minded youths, paving the way to bring more smiles to the vulnerable in our community. Using new social media collaborative tools like linoit and instavideo at the symposium, we hope to excite youths towards empowering them to give meaningful time to the elderly by supporting active and graceful aging in support of the Singapore Red Cross’ community engagement for the elderly. This event is also open to the public ( first come first served pre registration)
