Giving pays you back first. Not in money — in the version of you who stops scrolling and actually does something. Every study says it, and Islam said it centuries earlier: generosity doesn't shrink your wealth, it purifies it. You don't get poorer giving. You get lighter.

The timing sharpens it. This drive falls in Rabi' al-Awwal, the month tied to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ — a man defined by feeding others first, unasked. Giving now isn't logistics. It's you choosing to live that legacy, not just admire it.

So this isn't really about rice and oil. It's a two-minute transfer that buys something most people spend a lifetime chasing. PayNow +65 8751 6775, before 1 August 2026. Every contribution makes a difference — starting with the one it makes in you.

To everyone who liked, shared, or intended to give after our last post—thank you! ❤️

Real talk for a second: we are still a long way off from our target.

With our donation deadline coming up fast on 1 August, we need your help to close the gap. ⌛

Here’s the thing about giving: we often wait for the "right moment." But generosity doesn’t shrink your wealth—it purifies it. You don’t end up poorer; you just end up lighter, with a happier heart. 💚

We’re currently in Rabi' al-Awwal, the month tied to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ—a man who fed others first, unasked. This charity drive isn't just about collecting rice and oil for families in need. It’s our chance to actively live that legacy, not just admire it. 🌾✨

If you’ve been meaning to contribute, don't let "later" steal your good intention. A quick 2-minute PayNow transfer today puts essential groceries directly into a vulnerable household's kitchen. 🛒

Here’s how you can make it happen:
📱 PayNow to: +65 8751 6775
👤 Contact: Haji Razib Ibrahim
🗓️ Donation Closing Date: 1 August 2026
📍 Event Distribution: 15 August 2026 (Punggol)

Every single dollar shortens the road. Let’s cross the finish line together! 🙏

Never sat in a cinema quite like this. No annoying whispers. No rustling popcorn. No checking of phones.

Just silence. The kind of silence that descends when an entire room is witnessing something together and knows not to look away.

Managed to get one of the last tickets for opening night of ‘The Voice of Hind Rajab’ this evening. Knowing the ending beforehand did not make it any easier. After all, this is not fiction. It is a reconstruction of what actually happened, built largely around the real voice recordings from that day.

When 5 year old Hind’s voice says, “I’m dying”, it lands differently for her. Anger rose sharply in her chest seeing about the 355 bullets fired into the car by tanks with this 5 year old girl in it. The tanks use infrared sensors so they shoot deliberately where there’s still life.

There was another moment that caught her unexpectedly. The phrase “COGAT approval” appeared on screen.

She knows that phrase. COGAT stands for Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories, and is a unit in the IDF. She had to seek the same approval process while working on the Palestinian Scholarship Initiative for one of the scholar candidates still living in Gaza when the borders completely closed. We eventually secured approval but still could not get her out to Singapore. Thankfully, the young Palestinian later made it safely to the UK on another scholarship.

As the credits rolled, nobody seemed in a hurry to leave. People simply sat, then walked out quietly. It felt less like leaving a movie and more like leaving a funeral.

The world’s attention has shifted elsewhere again. Iran. The next crisis. The next headline. But Palestine remains under siege. One of the most uncomfortable questions this film leaves with her is not only what happened to Hind Rajab. It is also what happens to us when we become accustomed to it.

Director Kaouther Ben Hania has done something extraordinary here. Through craft, restraint and the haunting power of voice recordings, the film is both intimate and devastating. Just the unbearable weight of a child’s final hours. The film went on to win the Grand Jury Prize at the Venice Film Festival in 2025.

The Voice of Hind Rajab opened today and is screening at Filmhouse Cinema @ Golden Mile through 17 June.

Go watch it, bear witness. And take tissues. 🙏🏽🇵🇸
