(304)

East Coast Park parkrun is a FREE weekly event open to people of all standards and ages, both as volunteers and as runners / walkers. We encourage people of every ability to take part, from those taking their first steps in running to Olympians, from juniors five years or older to those with decades of experience. All runners receive encouragement and enjoy being part of a community event open to

all standards. Equally, our volunteer teams come from a huge variety of backgrounds and we urge everybody to get involved in organising their local events at least three times per year.

🤔 Have you ever thought about joining the core team at East Coast Park parkrun as a Run Director?

Being a Run Director is a fantastic way to be part of the parkrun community. Don't worry if you've never done it before — full training and support are provided, and you'll always have an experienced team around you.

As a Run Director, you'll help make sure our event runs smoothly, welcome participants and volunteers, and play a key role in creating the friendly atmosphere that makes parkrun so special.

No previous Run Director experience is required — just enthusiasm for parkrun, a willingness to learn, and a desire to help our community thrive.

If you've been coming along to East Coast Park parkrun and would like to get more involved, we'd love to hear from you. Whether you're curious about the role or ready to give it a go, reach out to the Core Team and we'll happily chat through what's involved.

Interested? Drop us a message or have a chat with one of the Run Directors on Saturday. We'd love to welcome some new faces to the Core Team! 😊💜

This week's run report comes from visiting parkrunner from Australia, David, who joined the East Coast parkrun community for event 502. Read on for David's reflections on a hot and humid Singapore morning, a friendly welcome and the unique experience of parkrunning by the bay 👇

This week, I had the pleasure of participating in East Coast parkrun in Singapore while visiting on holidays from Australia.

The 07.30 start is a bit of a change from back home but seeing all the locals out exercising in the early morning, well there is good reason for the early start.

The event (no. 502) took place on a beautiful but very hot and humid morning, with temperatures hovering around 30°C. I was sweating just getting to the start line after the friendly and welcoming event briefing!

Around 120 participants from all around the globe, including the USA, Cyprus, the UK, and across Australia attended along with the friendly locals. Although there were no milestones to celebrate this week, it was wonderful to see many newcomers running their very first parkrun.

The flat course offered lovely views over the water and the ships in the bay, with some shade from the trees—though the humidity certainly made the return leg feel a bit warmer.
The run director and the volunteer team created a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and many participants stayed afterward to chat and celebrate together. It was lovely to meet so many new people after their walk, jog or run.

Overall, it was a fantastic event that I'd highly recommend to anyone visiting Singapore. And to the locals, your volunteering helps keep this wonderful community event thriving. Thanks to everyone who joined in and made it a great morning.
