Today marks Day 1 on the Camino de Santiago, and the Mamre Oaks community is stepping out with light hearts, wide smiles, and an undeniable energy of pure excitement and joy! 💛

Every single step today represents more than just distance covered; it’s a celebration of togetherness, inclusion, resilience, and shared purpose.

As the path ahead will bring its share of challenges, quiet reflections, and triumphs, doing it together makes every mile a blessing. 🙏

Aaron is taking the lead! 🎒🇪🇸✨

With a little encouragement from Claire, Aaron is ready to take us along on the next part of the Camino de Santiago journey! 🥾✨

From walking the trails and taking in the beautiful scenery, to sharing simple moments of friendship and discovery along the way, there is still so much of the Camino journey to share.

At the heart of this pilgrimage is what Mamre Oaks is all about — journeying together, encouraging one another and making sure no one walks alone. 💛

11 years of smiles, growth, friendship and journeying together. 💛🎉

We celebrated Mamre Oaks’ 11th Anniversary cm Volunteers’ Appreciation Day on 29 September 2026 — a special occasion to give thanks to God for His abundant blessings, as well as to the many people who have journeyed alongside us.

At Mamre Oaks, we strive to build a caring and inclusive community where every member is valued, supported and given opportunities to grow, build meaningful relationships and belong. 🌱
A heartfelt thank you to all our volunteers for the time, friendship and care you so generously share with our members. Whether you have been with us for many years or joined us more recently, your presence has been a meaningful part of the Mamre Oaks journey. 💛

We are also deeply grateful to our members, caregivers, Board, colleagues, donors and supporters who continue to believe in and support our mission.

As we begin our 12th year, we look forward to continuing this journey together — building friendships, creating meaningful moments and nurturing a community where everyone belongs. 🙏🏻

For Sharon and Aaron, the journey began long before the Camino. 💛👣

As Aaron’s mum, Sharon remembers the journey of finding a place where her son could feel supported, valued and where he could truly belong.

Since joining Mamre Oaks, she has seen Aaron grow in confidence, build meaningful relationships and find a community where he can be himself. 🤍

Now, mother and son are preparing for another special journey together — the Camino de Santiago.

For Sharon, the Camino is more than a walk. It is an opportunity to connect, spend precious time with Aaron and create memories on this pilgrimage together, one step at a time. 👣

Every step brings them closer to the Camino — and closer to a meaningful goal. 💛👣

Aaron, together with his mum Sharon and Claire’s mum Karen, has been putting in the kilometres as they prepare for the Camino de Santiago. From navigating rocky paths to building their endurance, every training walk brings them another step closer.

And they are walking with a purpose. 💛

Through our “Journeying Together: A Camino Pilgrimage for Mamre Oaks” campaign, we hope to raise $50,000 to support the work of Mamre Oaks and the members and families we journey alongside.

As a mum to Claire, one of our Mamre Oaks members, Karen shares what inspired her to say “yes” to walking the Camino and the intentions she carries with her on this pilgrimage.

Karen will be walking with Claire close to her heart, while journeying alongside the Mamre Oaks community she has come to know and treasure.
