SOE was founded as a non-profit organisation to cultivate an active entrepreneurial culture in Singapore, where we honour the achievements of local entrepreneurs and inspire the next generation of business owners. SOE has spent close to a decade honouring home-grown entrepreneurs, and initiating and executing programmes for young beneficiaries, giving them opportunities to interact with and learn from entrepreneurs. We are a non-profit and non-governmental charity organisation, funded solely through the generosity of our patrons, and driven by a volunteer Board of Governors comprising established entrepreneurs, corporate senior management, and public service and political leaders. At Spirit of Enterprise, we celebrate individuals who continue to innovate, adapt and persevere despite setbacks.

The story behind The Sandbox began as a Singapore entrepreneurial venture and reflects many of the qualities we often see in entrepreneurs: resilience, creativity, courage and determination in the face of uncertainty.

While outcomes may differ, the entrepreneurial journey often requires the same willingness to keep moving forward when plans change or challenges arise.

We are pleased to highlight this example of local entrepreneurial endeavour and the lessons it offers on resilience and perseverance.

Great things take planning, and this year's celebration is no exception 🍽️

Some of our Board of Governors gathered at The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore for a food tasting session ahead of the SOE Awards 2026 gala dinner. From sampling dishes to selecting the flowers, plates and table settings, every detail is being carefully thought through to make 5 November a night our honourees deserve. 🌟

🤝 Great meetings are about more than updates - they're about staying connected.

Our Board of Governors came together for our July meeting to review SOE's activities over the past few months, discuss key initiatives, and plan for what's ahead. We were also delighted to welcome back Rachel Wong and Thomas Fernandez, two of SOE's Past Presidents. 👏

🎉 The day ended on a sweet note as the Board surprised our Vice President, Sivanessan s/o Kitnasamy, with a birthday celebration and cake! 🎂

"Everyone has great ideas. The difference is who has the courage to execute them." 💡

Alan Koh, CMO of Impossible Marketing and SOE Board of Governor, spoke to students at Bukit View Secondary about entrepreneurship, AI, and what it takes to build something of your own. 🚀

Rather than a polished pitch, it was an honest look at perspective and courage. Alan reframed the Tortoise and the Hare to show how success depends on context and adaptability 🐢💨, and challenged the idea that studying is only about grades. 📚
