Not just for parents — for anyone supporting children and young people. Pay attention to the conversations, understand the dynamics beneath the conflict, and be fully present. Sometimes support starts not with fixing, but with noticing. Because when people feel seen, heard, and understood, trust begins to grow.

With the growing attention on bullying, schools are recognising the importance of equipping students leaders (PSLs) not just with awareness — but with the confidence and skills to act.

At Restorative Practices Singapore, our Upstander Programmes go beyond theory.

We create safe, structured spaces where students:

* Explore real-life scenarios
* Reflect on their own experiences
* Develop empathy and awareness of impact
* Learn practical ways to step up and support others

In many of our sessions, students begin to open up about their own experiences — as victims, bystanders, or even those who may have caused harm.

These moments become powerful learning opportunities.

Through guided conversations, students learn how to:
✔ Support peers who are hurt
✔ Respond with accountability and empathy
✔ Influence others positively
✔ Contribute to a safer, more inclusive school culture

When students feel heard and empowered, they don’t just understand change —
they become the change.

Had a wonderful time conducting a Relational Circle Workshop with a secondary school.

This fully experiential session focused on equipping teachers with the structure, facilitation skills, and confidence to bring relational circles back into their classrooms.

As a secondary school, the conversations centred on building an inclusive environment—embracing diverse student profiles while fostering a culture of care, respect, and belonging. Through the circle process, teachers explored how to strengthen peer-to-peer relationships and create classrooms where every voice is heard.

It was a meaningful session filled with rich sharing, reflection, and practical application. Heartening to see the commitment to bring this back to their students.

Training one school at a time, building stronger, more connected communities. ✨

💬 Student Leadership in Action: Restorative Practices at Work

This is more than a poster.
This is how students are beginning to understand conflict through a restorative lens.

In our training, conflict is not something to avoid or punish.
It is an opportunity to learn, take responsibility, and repair relationships.

Students explored:
💛 What happened
💛 Who has been affected
💛 What feelings and needs are present
💛 What needs to be done to make things right

Through guided discussions, role play, and the use of the PSL Card, they are learning to:
👉 Listen with empathy
👉 Speak with respect
👉 Step in as upstanders
👉 Support peers in a meaningful way

In a challenging environment, this matters even more.
Because when students feel heard and supported, they begin to show up differently for one another.

✨ Connection before correction.
✨ Working WITH, not doing TO or FOR.

This is how we build a school culture where students don’t just manage conflict—
they restore relationships and strengthen community.

Being an upstander is not taught through rules —
it is built through conversations, empathy, and practice.

In this primary school programme, students were given the space to explore what it truly means to step in, support a peer, and make responsible choices in real-life situations. Grounded in Restorative Practices, the focus is not just on behaviour, but on understanding impact, recognising feelings and needs, and taking action with care.

Using our Peer Support Cards and Upstander Resources like Thumballs, students engaged in meaningful discussions, practised what to say, and built the confidence to use their voice in supportive ways.

This is the work — building courage, strengthening relationships, and shaping a community where students look out for one another.

“Restorative practices is not a programme. It is a way of building communities where relationships come first.”

💙 Small actions can make a BIG difference.
