Red Cross Youth NTU Chapter

Red Cross Youth NTU Chapter The official page of the Red Cross Youth chapter at Nanyang Technological University

The NTU Chapter of the Singapore Red Cross Society was set up in July 1994. We aim to provide volunteering opportunities to our members in many different events and activities within and outside of the university. Through the events organized by our 6 portfolios, members and volunteers will get to gain invaluable experiences in providing welfare services, leadership management, and event planning.

We are an event based club and our members have the flexibility to join and participate in our events as a volunteer (helping out on the day of event), sub-committee member (working with other sub-committee members to plan events), or a management committee member (additional responsibility in planning and ensuring success of events).

🚨 NTU, Are You Stroke Smart? πŸ§ πŸ“š
Did you know stroke can strike anyone, anytime? Even young adults like us are at risk! πŸšΆβ€β™€οΈπŸšΆβ€β™‚οΈ

Here’s how to spot a stroke FAST:
πŸ‘‰ F: Is one side of their face drooping? πŸ˜”
πŸ‘‰ A: Can they raise both arms? πŸ–οΈπŸ–οΈ
πŸ‘‰ S: Is their speech slurred or hard to understand? πŸ—£οΈ
πŸ‘‰ T: Notice these symptoms? Time to call 995 immediately! β°πŸ“ž

⏳ Why Act Fast?
Every second counts! For every minute untreated, 1.9 million brain cells die. Your quick action can save a life.

πŸ”₯ What to Do:
βœ”οΈ Stay calm & call 995. πŸ“±
βœ”οΈ If conscious, put them in the recovery position. πŸ›Œ
βœ”οΈ If unconscious, perform CPR and apply AED until medical help has arrived. 🚨
βœ”οΈ No food, drinks, or meds – just support! πŸš«πŸ΄πŸ’Š

πŸ’‘ Fun Fact:
1 in 4 of us will face stroke risk in our lifetime.
You can lower your risk by staying active, eating well, and managing stress. πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ₯—πŸ’†β€β™‚οΈ

🚨 First Aid Ready! 🚨

πŸ’― We’re thrilled to congratulate all participants on passing the course and officially becoming Certified First Aiders! πŸŽ‰

From 9th to 10th December 2024, our members of RCYNTU took a huge step towards becoming life savers by attending an intensive First Aid Course! 🩺πŸ’ͺ

Over these two days, our learners gained invaluable knowledge and practical skills, including:
🩻 Identifying signs and symptoms of various illnesses.
πŸ†˜ Techniques to assist during emergencies like choking and allergic reactions.
🩹 Bandaging injuries such as burns, fractures, and bleeding.
πŸ’“ Perfecting CPR with the right posture, rhythm, and compression position.
⚑️ Mastering AED deployment to save lives in critical moments.

Your commitment and dedication to learning these life-saving skills make a world of difference. Keep shining as the heroes we all need! 🀩
