🌧️ Rain doesn't cause crashes. Losing grip does.

When the rain starts pouring, most drivers remember to replace worn wiper blades for better visibility. But there's another safety check that's just as important—your tyres.

Your tyres are the only part of your vehicle in contact with the road. Worn tread can significantly reduce grip on wet surfaces, increasing the risk of longer stopping distances, skidding, and aquaplaning.

Don't wait for an emergency to find out your tyres are past their best:
✔️ Checking your tyre tread depth regularly.
✔️ Maintaining the correct tyre pressure.
✔️ Inspecting for uneven wear, cuts, or damage.
✔️ Replacing tyres before they become unsafe.

A clear windscreen helps you see the road.
Good tyres help you stay on it.
Your journey is only as safe as your tyres.

🚗 Your Tyres Carry More Than You Think!

Did you know that while the average passenger car tyre weighs only about 10 kg, each tyre is responsible for supporting approximately 300–400 kg of your vehicle's weight?
Your tyres are the only point of contact between your vehicle and the road. Despite their relatively light weight, they play a vital role in:
✅ Supporting the weight of your vehicle and passengers
✅ Providing grip for safe acceleration, braking and cornering
✅ Maintaining stability and steering control
✅ Ensuring a comfortable and safe driving experience

This is why it is essential to:
🔹 Maintain the correct tyre pressure
🔹 Inspect your tyres regularly for wear and damage
🔹 Rotate and balance your tyres as recommended
🔹 Replace tyres before they become unsafe
Never underestimate the importance of your tyres—they are one of the most critical safety components on your vehicle.

The Singapore Motor Tyre Dealers Association (SMTDA) encourages all motorists to make tyre maintenance a regular part of vehicle ownership. Safe tyres save lives.
Your Journey is Only as Safe as Your Tyres!
