In Japan, Women’s Golf Day events continued the country’s impressive growth trajectory.

West Palm Beach, Florida, United States: What began in 2016 as a single-day celebration has evolved into one of the most impactful global activations in sport. Women’s Golf Day (WGD) concluded its 2026 worldwide week of events and celebrations on June 2 with thousands of women and girls having participated in activities spanning five continents, demonstrating the continued growth and influence of the movement that is engaging, empowering and supporting women through golf.

Now celebrated across a week – from May 26 through June 2 – WGD has transformed from a four-hour event into a global platform that connects communities, golf facilities, governing bodies, brands, resorts, federations and players around a shared mission: creating opportunities for women and girls to experience golf and the lifelong skills, friendships and business connections the game provides.

Melbourne, Australia: Shorter formats are reshaping how Australians play golf, with new data from the Capital.com GA Handicap revealing a significant surge in nine-hole rounds across the country.

The inaugural report for Golf Australia Insights Hub, which analysed more than 20 million rounds submitted over the last four years, shows more than 734,000 nine-hole rounds were submitted in the 12 months to May 2026, an 11.4% increase year-on-year, continuing a strong upward trend in shorter format play.

Nine-hole rounds now account for 5.86% of all Capital.com GA Handicap rounds nationally, up from 5.42% the previous year, highlighting a growing shift in how Australians engage with the game.

Golf Australia CEO James Sutherland said while 18-hole rounds were still the dominant preference for four in five golfers submitting rounds for handicapping, the new data reflects a consistent evolution in golfer behaviour across formats.

Pune, India: The global golf equipment market is expected to be valued at US$8.9 billion in 2026 and projected to reach US$12.9 billion by 2033, growing at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 5.4% with the Asia-Pacific region being a prime driver.

This growth trajectory is under-pinned by a sustained post-pandemic resurgence in golf participation globally, rapid adoption of technologically advanced equipment and expanding golf infrastructure across emerging economies.

The findings form part of a new report from Persistence Market Research, which also highlights North America remaining the largest region, with a 42% market share in 2025, helped by more than 41 million golfers in the US, higher disposable income and established retail and golf course networks.

St Andrews, Scotland: The R&A has provided an update to its Golf Course 2030 Water Portal to offer golf course operators with the latest guidance, data and practical solutions to help address sustainable water management.

Water management – including sustainable sourcing, efficient use and the management of extreme weather events – continues to present challenges for golf courses globally.

Launched in 2023, the portal has now been updated by environmental consultant and subject expert Dr Tom Young (TEP) to reflect the latest legislation, industry guidance and best-practice approaches for water management.

An interactive mapping tool enables users to explore how climate change could affect their golf course over time, including projected changes in rainfall patterns and temperatures.

“The Water Portal is one of most popular resources produced by the first Golf Course 2030 projects.
