Are you excited about using AI and technology to support organizations tackling real-world challenges across the Asia Pacific (APAC) region?

is recruiting volunteer technical builders for a two-day, in-person AI Builder Lab in Bangkok on June 11-12, 2026. The event is part of a collaboration with OpenAI Academy and program partners the Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC) and the Gates Foundation to support disaster-management agencies across APAC.

We are especially interested in Bangkok-based builders who can join both full event days in person.

Volunteers will work directly with disaster-management practitioners, OpenAI and DataKind staff, and Singapore to support emergency-response and disaster-management practitioners turn promising ideas into practical AI solutions that address real operational needs.

The strongest fit is someone who can:
- Build quickly and pragmatically
- Collaborate effectively with practitioners
- Make thoughtful technical tradeoffs
- Help deliver a usable prototype

You do not need to be an AI researcher. We’re looking for builders who can move quickly, listen well, and help produce a usable prototype or workflow package by the end of the event.

Sanima, a Peruvian nonprofit, is pioneering sustainable, safe, and dignified sanitation alternatives in Lima.

To help improve their service delivery and scale their vital services, DataKind partnered with Sanima to optimize waste collection routes, using (and enhancing) our Container-Based Action Routing Tool (CART).

🌏 Volunteer with Climate Hack 2024 🌏
Climate Hack is a four-month virtual programme which aims to equip 200 individuals from Asia with awareness and knowledge of climate issues and core skills to develop digital solutions for climate change. Participants will attend a climate conference, problem-solving workshops, and digital skills workshops. Following the workshops, they will form teams to ideate and prototype a solution. Shortlisted teams will have the opportunity to pitch to a panel of judges for a chance to visit Singapore on a Learning Journey.

✨Climate Hack is seeking volunteers willing to contribute their time and expertise between Sep 2024 and Jan 2025 to guide and support these budding changemakers, as trainers, mentors, technical consultants, pitch coaches, judges, or in event support. Requirements and commitments vary depending on the role.
