Beta chapter’s “Paws for Autism” program at Saint Clare School has been ongoing weekly since 20 Sep 2024. I missed the last session due to work commitments and was really touched when Alvis came up to me and hugged me, saying “ Uncle Sam, missed you!” I was also very encouraged when Uncle Charles took Luke for a walk with the dog. Luke held the leash and Uncle Charles’ hands and walked close to the dog around the route. He was dead scared of the dog on the first session and the principal had to hug him tight at one corner just to calm him down! At the end of the session, Alvis came up to me and spelled A-N-G-E-L! His teachers said that meant he was happy with the program, otherwise he spells D-E-M-O-N! We are making great progress with these sweet children!

In a recent Parliamentary sitting, DPM Lawrence Wong highlighted the priority of addressing mental health on the national agenda. It is essential to understand issues faced by young people, with the current generation expressing more concern about their mental health than previous cohorts.
