The Artground

The Artground A registered arts charity and curious place for children from birth to nine years old, to explore and imagine, with drop-in programmes on the weekend.

The Artground is an arts space for children aged 9 and under which draws inspiration from the poem, The Hundred Languages of Children. We are an accessible space that aims to provide positive arts experiences across a variety of art forms and our vision to let art do, what art does defines what we do. The Artground endeavours to be the epicenter of unique artistic experiences for young audiences t

hrough the artists who use us as a space to inspire and create.

“The child is made of one hundred. The child has a hundred languages
a hundred hands
a hundred thoughts
a hundred ways of thinking
of playing, of speaking. a hundred, always a hundred
ways of listening
of marveling, of loving
a hundred joys
for singing and understanding
a hundred worlds to discover
a hundred worlds to invent
a hundred worlds to dream.”

- Excerpt from, The Hundred Languages of Children by Loris Malaguzzi. The Artground encourages everyone who visits our center to be creative by offering opportunities for the child and the artist to remain inquisitive for life. Our primary arts programmes and ancillary workshops that go beyond the arts realm, facilitate learning through play and empower children to express themselves in a hundred ways. We want to keep everyone thinking, questioning, exploring, appreciating and discovering, as artists.

“Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.”
– Picasso

Wondering what happens during E.P.I.C?

A lot more than just watching performances. Over the years, E.P.I.C participants have travelled, participated in workshops and sharing sessions, connected with regional and international art-makers, explored creative spaces for children, and exchanged ideas across cultures and artistic practices. It is a space to reflect, question, experiment, and reimagine what Theatre for Young Audiences can be.

From post-show conversations to spontaneous discussions, many participants have shared that some of the most meaningful moments came from being immersed in a community of artists equally passionate about creating for children.

Here’s a look back at some moments from previous E.P.I.C programmes!

E.P.I.C is for artists who are curious about creating thoughtful, developmentally appropriate, and imaginative experiences for children, and who are keen to deepen their practice alongside an international community of art-makers. If you’ve been wanting to explore new ways of creating for young audiences, this could be the programme for you.

A show that’s travelled far and now it’s back home.

Invisible Invincible, produced by MySuperFuture, began its journey at The Artground’s GroundBreakers 2018, and now returns to where it all started after delighting young audiences from Singapore to Bangkok and Sydney.

Designed for children aged 3 to 6, this interactive performance invites your child to step right in through play, music, and imagination.

Through a child’s eyes, the world is full of possibilities. Empty spaces transform into whole new worlds, and new friendships are just a moment of play away. Past audiences have experienced the magic of imagination come alive on stage. 🌟
