ARTDIS A charity dedicated to advocating and creating opportunities that empower persons with disabilities through the arts.

Formerly known as Very Special Arts Singapore, ART:DIS is a non-profit organisation established in 1993, championing the learning and livelihood opportunities for persons with disabilities (PwDs) in and through the arts. We provide a wide range of programmes to enable PwDs to develop their artistic interests, grow their self-confidence and engage them as active members of a supported community, outside of and beyond formal education. Our parallel professional development pathways further supports sustainable & meaningful impact for PwDs to gain work experience, empowering them to live independently in the community. At ART:DIS, we value the unique strengths and perspectives of persons with disabilities and believe the arts offers us a lens to understand who they are, to connect with and to experience the world together.

Last weekend to catch Held in the Middle!

Just last year, Christian Tan’s artwork submission won over the judges unanimously at the UOL x ART:DIS Art Prize Competition. Today, his first solo exhibition brings together an evolving body of work, offering a closer look at Christian’s distinctive way of seeing the world around him. Beautiful flowers, a full moon, and loved ones together.

This Mid-Autumn Festival, we’re celebrating with a special greeting designed by Joy Koh, as part of our Design Sprint programme.

Joy’s artwork features beautiful pink peonies, a symbol of happiness, good fortune and prosperity.

“I like how full the peonies are, like the moon! The full moon reminds me of family and being together. I hope my painting brings you a little happiness and reminds you to enjoy this special time with the people you love.”

Three sold-out shows.
And a production with access built in from the very start.

MONSTRESS has come and gone from the Esplanade Theatre Studio, but we’re still thinking about everything it brought to the stage, and everything it opened up in conversation.

From embedded narration and moving captions to soundscapes and tracks, access was part of the creative process from day one.

A huge thank you to Esplanade for bringing MONSTRESS to a wider audience, and to Claire Teo for creating this deeply personal work from lived experience.

To Yvan Karlsson, our cast and the entire production team who spent two years devising and shaping the work: thank you for seeing it through.
