ARTDIS

ARTDIS A charity dedicated to advocating and creating opportunities that empower persons with disabilities through the arts.

Formerly known as Very Special Arts Singapore, ART:DIS is a non-profit organisation established in 1993, championing the learning and livelihood opportunities for persons with disabilities (PwDs) in and through the arts. We provide a wide range of programmes to enable PwDs to develop their artistic interests, grow their self-confidence and engage them as active members of a supported community, ou

tside of and beyond formal education. Our parallel professional development pathways further supports sustainable & meaningful impact for PwDs to gain work experience, empowering them to live independently in the community. At ART:DIS, we value the unique strengths and perspectives of persons with disabilities and believe the arts offers us a lens to understand who they are, to connect with and to experience the world together.

YEAR ZERO invites audiences to confront difficult questions about the lived realities of disabled people and reconsider our assumptions about inclusion.

Experience a world without labels.

ART:DIS & proudly present YEAR ZERO which explores uncertainty, resistance, and transformation on stage and within those who bring it to life.

In creating this work, the cast confronted their own unconscious biases, weaving real experiences into the performance.

More than theatre, it’s a call for empathy and the courage to face our own mistakes.

This work begins with a simple but important question: who are you?

In the residency conceived by ART:DIS and P7:1SMA, each dancer is invited to present a part of themselves - the gestures, habits, and qualities that make them who they are. These individual offerings become the building blocks of the choreography.

Rather than smoothing differences, the process holds them, allowing distinct personalities to sit side by side, overlap, and shape the work collectively.

This documentary traces that journey: from personal sharing to collective composition, where identity is not reduced, but layered into something larger.

A reminder that a community is not made by sameness, but by the space to be fully yourself.

At ART:DIS, our advocacy for persons with disabilities through the arts is grounded in a clear belief: equitable access to education and professional development enables individuals to thrive. The voices of our emerging artists demonstrate this impact, reflecting growth in confidence, identity, and professional readiness.

This progress is only possible through collaboration and we extend our sincere appreciation to all whom have supported Turning Points 3 this Singapore Art Week. Special mention to:
– Parents of artists Aaron, Hugh, Kenji, Yao Qing and Zack
– John Tung and the artist mentorsJoshua Yang, Kim Whye Kee, Lewis Choo, Mary Bernadette Lee and Tristan Lim
– FACTORY
– The Arts House
– SG Enable and President’s Challenge

Together, we are building an arts ecosystem where diversity is valued, opportunity is accessible, and every individual has the chance to contribute meaningfully.
