👣🧡 Safe Stride has officially launched — and we couldn't be more excited to take this step forward together!

After months of preparation, including equipping our volunteers with first aid response skills and walking support training, the time has come to walk alongside our seniors in the MacPherson community.

Safe Stride is more than just walking. It is about showing up consistently for seniors who face mild mobility challenges or feel the weight of isolation — and reminding them that they do not have to take that step alone. 🌟

We are heartened by the dedication of our volunteers and deeply grateful to CareElderly@Circuit Active Ageing Centre, operated by Care Community Services Society (CCSS), for partnering with us to bring this programme to life. It is through collaborations like these that we are able to meet real needs on the ground. 🙌

☕💻 Our very first Kopi & Bytes session was held at our centre at Block 37 Circuit Road, and it was a wonderful start!
We were delighted to welcome 16 seniors who joined us to learn, enjoy kopi, and share tea snacks together. 🍵✨
A big thank you to our volunteer trainer, Elisha, for sharing so meaningfully about the importance of digital skills and how digital apps can make everyday life easier and more connected. Your personal experiences made the session relatable, encouraging, and inspiring for our seniors. 🙌
Most importantly, we were encouraged to see the joy on the faces of our seniors and their eagerness to learn new digital skills. One step at a time, we continue to bridge the digital divide and empower seniors towards greater confidence and independence. ❤️

💛 Stepping Out, Walking Together

We’re thankful for 17 incredible volunteers who gave up their Saturday to be trained in our Safe Stride Walking Programme.

A heartfelt thank you to Alson from Wanters for leading and equipping us so well.

Safe Stride is more than just walking. It’s about walking alongside our seniors.
Our volunteers are stepping into meaningful relationships with isolated seniors and those with mild mobility challenges in MacPherson, encouraging them to step out, stay active, and stay connected.

As our population ages, these simple yet intentional acts go a long way:

✨ Bringing companionship and renewed confidence

We’re grateful for the wonderful turnout of 29 participants at our Responder Plus Programme (RPP) last Sunday! 🙌

A heartfelt thank you to SCDF from 1st Division for taking the time to conduct this meaningful and practical training. Your dedication has truly made a difference.

We also deeply appreciate Brighton Community Church for generously providing the venue, making it possible for us to host our volunteers, along with our partners from SG Cares Volunteer Centre (VC) @ Geylang, Jalan Besar and Serangoon (operated by ).

This training plays a vital role in equipping our volunteers under the Safe Stride Programme. It empowers them with the confidence and skills to respond effectively in real-life situations, especially as they begin supporting senior beneficiaries who will be assigned to them starting this May.

Deserving The Same Care, Dignity and Companionship

Not every senior enjoys big group gatherings.

But that doesn’t mean they don’t long for someone to talk to.

Years of isolation can quietly take a toll, leading to withdrawal, loneliness and declining physical health.

The Safe Stride Programme is here to change that.

We match trained volunteers with vulnerable seniors aged 60 and above for simple, meaningful monthly walking sessions, creating space for connection, encouragement, and renewed confidence.

At Brighton Connection, we equip our volunteers with the skills and understanding needed to gently support seniors in taking that first step out again, towards a more active and connected life.

A heartfelt thank you to the wonderful seniors from EN Community Services Society (ECSS) for spending time with our little ones at Brighton Connection Student Care Centre at Simei this March Holidays! 🌟

Not every child has the opportunity to travel overseas during the holiday season, yet you made these holidays truly meaningful and fruitful for our children. Your care, stories and presence remind us that senior volunteers can contribute in incredible ways, far beyond what we often imagine. 💛

Together, we celebrate the joy of intergenerational bonding and the powerful impact of giving back.

This Chinese New Year, as families gather and homes fill with laughter, let’s not forget the seniors in MacPherson who have little or no support.

Thanks to the Community Chest FuDai initiative and generous sponsorship, Brighton Connection was able to bring household essentials and festive goodies to bless 50 seniors in our community. 🧧✨

Beyond the items, it was the warmth of presence, conversations, and care that truly made this season meaningful.

A special appreciation to our dedicated volunteers who stepped forward to serve. Your time and heart made all the difference. ❤️
