CILTS - Wilat SG

CILTS - Wilat SG Women in Logistics and Transport Singapore (WiLAT SG). Founded by Kelly Lee. ACTIVITIES

We will provide opportunities to interact with women in the industry.

BACKGROUND

Historically women have been under-represented in sectors such as transport and logistics. This can be caused by women’s lack of interest in working in such environment and/or different barriers that limit their access to male dominated working environment. The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport provides career development and professional training opportunities. A further

initiative to establish a group on women in logistics and transport is to further promote our industry to competent female members and to sustain their development in the sector. THE GROUP OF FOUNDERS

It was founded by a group of female members of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in 2014. The members run the group completely on a voluntary basis and periodically organize events to promote the life of women in the industry. They are connected on Facebook and are associated with The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in Singapore (www.cilt.org.sg). The group sees the challenges facing women in the industry and by living up with the challenges, our women in the field represents the spirit of the famous female army chief "Hua Mulan" who went into the battle field for her father. We also aim to provide mentoring opportunities to match experienced women leaders with newer members, providing them with a comfortable arrangement to ask questions, solicit advice and learn from each other. Women joining this society will become friends of WILAT.
