The heart of the Mid-Autumn Festival truly beats in our neighborhoods. This year, residents gathered at the HDB void deck and the adjacent neighborhood park to celebrate unity, tradition, and community spirit—an memorable evening made possible by the dedicated support of our Women’s Executive Committee (WEC), Family Life Champion (FLC), and Youth Network (YN) members.
The celebration kicked off under the HDB block, where the void deck was transformed into a festive hub adorned with rows of glowing paper lanterns. Thanks to the thoughtful planning of our WEC and FLC teams, residents of all ages mingled over traditional treats, sharing slices of sweet mooncakes and sipping hot tea. The space buzzed with laughter as neighbors caught up with one another, while our energetic YN members brought extra life to the party, guiding excited children through interactive games and crafting booths.
As dusk fell, the festivities spilled over into the nearby park. The gravel paths and green lawns came alive with a moving sea of lights. Holding their brightly lit cellophane and LED lanterns high, excited children led their families on a traditional lantern walk under the bright full moon. The gentle glow of the lanterns against the night sky created a warm, nostalgic atmosphere, capturing the true essence of the festival—bringing loved ones and neighbors closer together.
As the lanterns began to dim and the evening drew to a close, a longtime resident paused to thank a young volunteer packed up the last of the booth tables.
"Thank you all for organizing this," she smiled, holding her grandchild's hand. "It’s been a long time since we’ve seen the void deck look so alive. It really feels like one big family again."
The volunteer smiled back, looking out over the clearing park. "We’re just happy everyone came out. Seeing the smiles makes all the planning worth it. Have a safe walk home, Auntie, and Happy Mid-Autumn Festival!"
