ACEU warmly congratulates SG Ng Chee Meng 黄志明 on his appointment to cabinet. His appointment is a strong affirmation of the importance of workers' voices in government and the continued commitment to building a fair, inclusive and resilient Singapore.

His support during Shell's divestment of its assets to Aster was critical. During this time of uncertainty, he actively engaged the union and companies to ensure that workers' interests remained at the forefront of discussions. He supported the formation of ACEU and partnered the union to reinforce the importance of a fair and just transition for employees, the long-term viability of jobs, and their continued protection and representation as members.

As Singapore navigates an increasingly complex economic landscape brought about by geopolitical conflicts and AI, we look forward to continued collaboration with the government to strengthen workforce resilience, create quality jobs, and ensure that no worker is left behind.

Last week, we presented our 1-year anniversary souvenir to NTUC’s Secretary-General and three Deputy Secretary-Generals, as a token of our appreciation for their strong support in the formation of ACEU.

Through multiple rounds of discussions, NTUC worked closely with us to ensure that members transitioning to Aster would be well protected and fairly represented. Their support for the establishment of a house union was instrumental in making this possible.

We look forward to strengthening our close partnership with NTUC as we continue to improve the lives and welfare of our members.
