Mercy Relief Mercy Relief is Singapore's leading independent disaster relief agency which provides timely and effective aid across communities in Asia Pacific.

Inaugurated in 2003, Mercy Relief is Singapore’s leading independent disaster relief agency, with
dedicated leadership, capacity-building expertise, and an affiliate network operating across the entire
disaster management cycle. The organisation provides emergency aid within 72 hours of an appeal
and champions long-term sustainability programmes in water and sanitation, healthcare, shelter,
sustainable livelihoods, and education. Over the last two decades, Mercy Relief has responded to
more than 132 natural disasters across 31 countries, disbursing over $49.4 million in relief operations
and impacting more than 3.3 million lives.

The road was arduous, the terrain unforgiving. But the Mercy Relief team and its ground partner never lost sight of the mission.

With determination and grit, we reached Uttargaya.

At a local government distribution centre, the initial batch of emergency aid supplies we delivered will feed and clothe some 600 beneficiaries and supplies will continue to arrive to support 1,800 people in total.

Critical support is now reaching communities that desperately need help.

This is what happens when we refuse to let distance, despair and challenges have the final word.

[THE ROAD TO UTTARGAYA: PART 1]

The road to Uttargaya tells a story of immense human resilience. Its landscape has been reshaped by natural disasters - the 2015 earthquake and now, the devastating August 2026 flash floods.

Key routes have now been destroyed by the floods, forcing humanitarian aid organisations to venture into longer, tougher and more dangerous journeys across mountainous terrain, to reach the affected communities. Every trip takes so much more time, energy and effort.

The Mercy Relief team's journey to Uttargaya started on 6 September 2026, armed with determination and the commitment to deliver emergency aid supplies for 1,800 individuals stranded in Uttargaya.

As we prepare for our humanitarian mission to Nepal, Mercy Relief's (MR) International Programmes team took a pit stop home to Singapore, from our recent mission to the Philippines where MR completed its relief operation and is now moving from emergency relief towards early recovery.

Citizens' Disaster Response Center (CDRC) and Mercy Relief worked together to deliver food and hygiene relief to 750 low-income households across the communities in Quezon City, Capas, and Tarlac.

Mercy Relief’s work does not end with the delivery of aid. The team also helped train Disaster Preparedness Committees (DPCs) in disaster preparedness, emergency response, prevention, and mitigation activities.

The road ahead is challenging, but solidarity can make it ever more meaningful.

🚨 DEPLOYMENT UPDATE
Tropical Cyclones Luis, Maymay and Neneng, together with the Southwest Monsoon, have claimed at least 33 lives and damaged nearly 3,300 homes.

Our Mercy Relief team is in Quezon City, working alongside our local partner to deliver food and essential supplies to 2,500 disaster stricken individuals affected by the floods.

We are not deterred by the relentless rains which continue to hamper our relief efforts to reach the vulnerable communities in Quezon City and Tarlac. They face worsening conditions that have disrupted their livelihoods and need our help.

For more than 1.3 million people, across southeastern Bangladesh, the severe monsoon floods and landslides disrupted homes, livelihoods, and access to essential services. At least 59 people lost their lives.

Triggered by continuous heavy rainfall and an active southwest monsoon, the floodwaters have swallowed roads and damaged bridges, leaving families stranded as disrupted routes make it hard for rescue teams and relief supplies to reach isolated communities.

Families are struggling to find safe drinking water as floodwaters have contaminated local water sources and damaged sanitation facilities, increasing the risk of waterborne diseases.
