As we commemorate World Mental Health Day 2025, let us remember that sometimes being there is enough to change lives!

Campus PSY is deeply humbled to be featured by The Straits Times inaugural Signature Series: “Purpose is about Lifting Others”, alongside The Business Times and Lianhe Zaobao 联合早报, brought to you by OCBC.

The Straits Times Signature Series profiles passionate and visionary young changemakers who are trying to make a difference and uplifting others.

In this second instalment, our Founder and Executive Director, Mr Cho Ming Xiu, hopes to shine a spotlight on the work we do at Campus PSY, in youth mental wellbeing through advocacy, training, support, volunteering and intervention, driven by the hope that all young people can be there for their peers in difficult moments, ensuring no one feels alone.

Our mission is clear:

1. To give our young people both a voice and a platform to lead mental health conversations.
2. Empowering our youths and helping them to develop resilience, by equipping them with peer support skills and mental health literacy.
3. Building peer networks that help to reduce stigma and encourages them to seek help early and foster a sense of community support.

Since 2016, Campus PSY has:

🏅 Trained over 500 peer supporters
👩‍🎓 Reached over 3,000 youths through advocacy talks, workshops & outreach events nationwide
🏥 Partnered over 90 agencies across government, social service, corporates, youth, healthcare, education and grassroots organisations
🇸🇬 Being part of National Mental Health Steering Committees: SG Mental Wellbeing Network, Youth Mental Wellbeing Network

To that end, we are immensely grateful to the many youths who have stepped up for one another, the peer supporters who chose to listen non-judgementally and stand alongside their friends, and the many community partners who have made Campus PSY’s journey possible.

Together, we can shift the mindset and culture of Singaporeans on mental health, from stigma to empathy and proactive support. Uplift others and build a “We-First” society, where no one has to struggle with their mental health challenges alone!

A big thank you to Susan Ng at CNA938 for having us on “Family Ties”, representing the Beyond the Label (BTL) Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs) Workgroup, alongside Daphne Lin, BTL Ambassador, to delve on the topic “From home to work: Family support for interns”.

We had an engaging discussion on how parents, employers and educators can better support our youths, as they navigate through the transition from school to workplace internship. Such as adapting to workplace culture, managing expectations, and learning how to communicate in professional settings.

We also shared about the BTL IHLs Workgroup’s flagship initiative, the "Tik Talk" (Workplace Internship Edition), a physical mobile roadshow, which aims to provide psychoeducation for youths aged 17 to 25 years old, focusing on managing workplace stressors, mental health awareness, and seeking help in the workplace.

Together, we can help our youths build resilience, by equipping them with the right emotional coping strategies and social support systems. To help them thrive, not just in the workplace, but in life.

Campus PSY is honoured to represent the Beyond the Label (BTL) Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs) Workgroup at the BTL Fest 2025, jointly organised by TOUCH Community Services, NCSS Singapore and the BTL Collective.

The theme for BTL Fest 2025 is "Breaking Stigma, Championing Workplace Mental Health". The event was graced by Mr Eric Chua, Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF). And supported by campaign partner and venue sponsor, CapitaLand.

BTL is a nationwide movement launched by NCSS in 2018. With the primary aim of combating the stigma associated with mental health conditions and promoting social inclusion for individuals living with these conditions.

In 2022, the BTL movement entered its second phase, known as BTL 2.0, co-led by NCSS and TOUCH Community Services saw the formation of the BTL Collective, a coalition of over 30 partners from the public, private, and community sectors.

Campus PSY is honoured to co-lead the BTL IHLs Workgroup, one of the 5 workgroups under the BTL 2.0 Collective, alongside Care Corner Singapore and 10 other partner agencies, namely Singapore Association for Mental Health, Fei Yue Community Services, CARE Singapore, CHAT Singapore, Limitless Singapore, SHINE Children & Youth Services, Temasek Polytechnic, Republic Polytechnic, TOUCH and NCSS.

In line with the 2025 BTL theme on "Workplace Wellbeing", we will be rolling out the "Tik Talk" (Workplace Internship Edition), a physical mobile roadshow, which aims to provide psychoeducation for youths aged 17 to 25 years old, focusing on managing workplace stressors, mental health awareness, and seeking help in the workplace.

Over the years, The BTL Collective has engaged over 15,800 youths and their families, and over 330 corporate representatives to raise awareness, promote inclusion, and build resilience. Together, let's continue breaking stigma, championing workplace mental health, and building supportive spaces where everyone can thrive!

A big thank you to UFM 100.3 DJ: Cheng Yao, UFM 100.3 DJ: Limei 叶丽梅 and UFM 100.3 DJ: Andrew 詹靖禾 for having us on "The Play Show" - 《小小企业,大大作为》. Sharing the work that we do on youth mental health and how parents can better support their children in their wellbeing.

We had an engaging discussion on some of the common mental health challenges that our youths are currently facing. How do we help parents identify early signs and symptoms of distress. And what are some of the community mental health resources that are available for our youths to seek help.

Seeking help is never easy. But we can all play our part as trusted adults, to provide active listening and a safe space for our youths to confide in. And to support them in navigating through their help seeking journey.
