At our recent Foundry Fieldnodes, communications practitioner Imran Khan unpacked how trust gets built — and broken — through the everyday work of language.

Drawing on 15 years of experience, he shared practical insights on how social impact organisations can communicate in ways that build trust with individuals and organisations.

Because in a crowded social impact landscape, garnering attention isn’t enough. Trust is what sustains you.

One key insight:

📌 A funder ≠ a beneficiary ≠ a board member
Each responds to a different approach. Some value brevity and directness. Others need more context, patience, and relationship-building.

The organisations that get this right don’t just get heard — they earn trust.

Know someone who’d be a great fit for a future Foundry Fieldnodes conversation? We’d love to hear from you! → [email protected]

A Day in the Life of… Michelle 💃

Meet Michelle, Manager and Community Architect at The Foundry.

It’s amazing how much fits into her day. The secret to keeping it all together? The people around her who make every day brighter (and a lot more fun). 😜

🔩Foundry Fieldnodes: Fieldtrip Edition 🔩

In our first-ever Fieldtrip, we visited — a Foundry resident building a third space where young people don’t just show up, but take ownership.

One insight stayed with us:

📌There’s no metric for trust, belonging, or community ownership. But you know it when you see it, whether it’s repeat visits, shared rituals or people returning without being asked.
sg isn’t just running programmes. They’re building a place young people choose to return to — at a time when loneliness is rising and third spaces are quietly disappearing. 🧡

More fieldtrips to come. Watch this space!

A Day in the Life of… Marlene 🐝

Meet the people behind The Foundry — starting with Marlene, Director of Foundry.

Here’s a peek into her day! Turns out it includes rehoming bees — before most people have had their morning coffee. And harvesting honey in between meetings.🍯

Most confidentiality problems don’t start with bad intentions. They start with assumptions.

A volunteer who didn’t know. Information shared without clear expectations on what stays private.

For impact organisations, the stakes are real — donor trust, beneficiary safety, partner relationships.

Our next Totally Legal session — organised in collaboration with and Rajah & Tann Singapore — is here to help. 🆘

Join Goh Jun Yi (partner) and Zhu Jinwen (Senior Associate) from Rajah & Tann Singapore to explore:

📌 What counts as confidential information?
📌 What risks arise when expectations are not clearly set?
📌 How can NDAs work for nonprofits?

🔩 Lunch & Learn 🔩

Fear. Hope. Dread. Maybe all of it at once.
How do you feel about the future?

At a recent Lunch & Learn, Foundry enabler and SingHealth Duke-NUS Global Health Institute asked something most don’t: how is the climate crisis making us feel?

The Climate Emotions Wheel drew it out — anxiety, grief, frustration, helplessness, but also gratitude, indignation, hope. Language for what most of us had been carrying quietly.

And through a game called Thing from the Future, we imagined objects from futures shaped by growth, collapse, discipline, and transformation. We moved from individual reflection to collective imagination, from what we fear to what we might actually build.

Because hope isn’t always something we find. Sometimes, it’s something we build. 🌱

More sessions coming — what word would you put on your Climate Emotions Wheel right now?
