It was our pleasure at the Union of Security Employees (USE) to be invited by Interlock Group and to engage with the Persatuan Industri Keselamatan Malaysia (PIKM) in a meaningful dialogue on the developments of the security industry in Singapore.

The session provided a valuable platform to exchange perspectives on industry developments, workforce challenges, and opportunities within the security sectors of both Singapore and Malaysia.

USE was pleased to share Singapore's tripartite partnership model, which brings together unions, employers, and government agencies to strengthen workers' wages, welfare, and career progression while supporting business growth and industry transformation.

During the discussion, USE highlighted key initiatives that have delivered positive outcomes for security officers and the broader workforce.

This included sharing insights on the Company Training Committee (CTC) Grant, which supports businesses in workplace transformation, productivity enhancement, and workforce upskilling.
These efforts help companies remain competitive while ensuring workers are equipped with the skills needed to thrive in an evolving operating environment.

The dialogue also explored how technology can complement security manpower, enhance service delivery, and create more meaningful career pathways for security professionals with examples of actual onsite transformations.

The exchange reinforced the importance of innovation, skills development, and strong industry partnerships in building a resilient, professional, and future-ready security sector.

Collective Agreement : USE x Interlock
In addition, we are also pleased to share that Interlock Security and Investigations Services Pte Ltd signed its inaugural Collective Agreement (CA) with USE, marking an important milestone in the company's commitment to its workforce.

The agreement provides a structured framework for collaboration between USE and Interlock, helping to strengthen industrial harmony while enhancing employees' wages, welfare and work prospects.

This reflects a shared commitment towards creating a progressive and sustainable workplace that benefits both employers and employees.

We sincerely thank Interlock Group for its warm hospitality and PIKM for the insightful exchange of ideas.

We look forward to deepening our partnership and continuing to share best practices with industry stakeholders.

Together, we aim to advance initiatives that support the growth of the security industry while enhancing the well-being, career development, and livelihoods of security employees.

USE Condemns Assault on Security Officer

The Union of Security Employees (USE) strongly condemns the assault of a Security Officer while he was carrying out his duties at a residential development on 24 August 2026.

The incident arose after a resident who did not have his access card sought assistance from the Security Officers on duty. The resident subsequently demanded to be issued a security access card, which the officers explained they were unable to provide in accordance with the security procedures in place.

The officers sought to assist the resident through alternative means, including offering to es**rt him to his unit.
Despite their efforts to assist and de-escalate the situation, the resident allegedly became verbally abusive and directed a racial slur at one of the officers. The situation subsequently escalated, and a Security Officer was assaulted.

The officer sustained injuries and was conveyed to hospital for medical attention. A police report was made, and investigations are ongoing.

Security Officers play an important role in protecting people and property and are entrusted to enforce security procedures for the safety of those they serve.

They should not be abused or assaulted for simply doing their jobs.
The Private Security Industry Act provides specific protections for Security Officers against assault, criminal force, hurt and harassment in connection with the discharge of their duties.

USE stands firmly with our affected Security Officers.
We call on everyone to treat Security Officers with dignity and respect, and to cooperate with the security procedures they are entrusted to enforce.
