SIAM-BURMA DEATH RAILWAY
This is a documentary film about the Asian Labourers (Indian Tamils, Burmese & Javanese) who worked like slaves at Siam (Thailand) – Burma death railway line during WWII. The names of the above Labourers are unknown to the world till date. The Books and memoirs written by the Australian and British POWs are the main evidences to trace the root of Asian Labourers pathetic
history. We, the production unit of this documentary film spent nearly 10 years to trace out the hidden facts of Death railway. During the research of above subject, we had a chance to find out many valuable contents about the WWII and Siam-Burma Railway project in the folklore Malaysian Indian Tamil community. We compared those historical facts with the documents of POWs and researcher’s notes. Fortunately it was very similar and not exaggerated at any point. The highlighting part of this documentary film is ‘survivors’. Yes, we have recorded the experiences of Survivors (who worked in the death rail road) from Malaysia, Thailand and Myanmar. They become very old now, but their memories didn’t mislay the tormenting experiences after 72 years. We questioned them in different angles to bring out their sufferings. The answers which we got from those survivors are projecting the war atrocities of Axis countries. Much unpopular information’s about the Asian Labourers are revealed in this documentary through the survivors. The source of this documentary’s strength is the views of Historical Researchers like Dr.David Boggett, Emeritus Professor, Kyoto University, Japan, Mr. Rod Beattie, Director, Thai-Burma Railway Museum, Thailand & Prof.M.Annamalai, India. Additionally we have collected many valuable facts from victim’s family members too. Our aim of this documentary film is to bring out the hidden stories of Asian Labourers and not anything else. We would like to screen this movie in all the common wealth countries and POWs and their family members. We are starting our tour from UK and interested to extend to the rest of the world.
