Singapore Association for Mental Health SAMH COUNSELLING HELPLINE 1800-283-7019 (Toll-Free)

Singapore Association for Mental Health (SAMH) is Singapore’s first community mental agency advocating β€˜Mental Wellness for All’ since 1968. More specifically, the organisation aims to promote mental health, prevent mental illness, improve the care and rehabilitation of persons with mental illness, and to reduce the misconception and social stigma that surrounds mental illness.

What happens when the thing you love starts to feel like just another deadline? 🎨

Burnout doesn't only show up in exam halls and offices. πŸŒ™

For creatives, it can feel like making things that look perfect but mean nothing. Chasing client approval while the joy quietly drains out of the process.

In Journal 02 of our Burnout Journals, a creative shares his experience of turning his passion into a career. From the sleepless nights and physical toll, to losing his sense of why he started creating in the first place, and the small, unexpected ways he's been finding his way back. 🌱🐱

We hope his story reminds others that creative burnout is real and that rediscovering joy doesn't have to look like a straight line. 🀍

Burnout looks different for everyone. This is one story, and we're collecting more. If you have a story to share, our DMs are open. πŸ’¬

How do we sustain what sustains us? 🌿

That question carried us through every step of Project Saisei, and on 5th June, it all came together at The Cathay.

Over the past year, 500 individuals across Singapore co-created this exhibition, showing up to mental wellness-centred art-making sessions, and transforming materials that were almost thrown away (plastic bottles, old paper, expired spices, old coffee powder, fabric scraps) into art across four seasons. Spring's awakening, Summer's vitality, Autumn's release, and Winter's stillness.

On launch day, we welcomed our partners, sponsors, and community to walk through it together. Thank you for the laughter, the conversations, and for showing up.

This is not the end. Come experience it for yourself.

Mental health needs don't fit neatly into one box. Neither should care. 🧩

At our Town Hall hosted at YMCA, we committed to a Mental Health Continuum, a framework that walks alongside people from early intervention all the way through reintegration. No gaps. No handoffs that lead nowhere. πŸ’™

This is what moving forward, together, looks like. Follow along, there's more to come.

What if you gave everything to your grades πŸ“– and still felt like it wasn't enough?

Burnout is more than just being tired. πŸŒ™

For many youths, it can feel like constantly running on empty while trying to keep up with expectations, deadlines, and the people around them.

In the first post of our Burnout Journals, Ananya, an intern from SAMH's Communications, Education & Engagement team, shares her experience with academic burnout from the exhaustion and irritability she faced, to the physical toll it took on her, and the small steps that helped her cope along the way. πŸ“šπŸ‚

We hope her story reminds others that they are not alone, and that reaching out, slowing down, and prioritising rest are all valid. 🀍

Wishing all our Buddhist friends a peaceful and meaningful Vesak Day. πŸ•ŠοΈ

May this occasion be a gentle reminder to slow down, reconnect with ourselves and extend kindness to those around us.

What does it take to compete at the highest level? Talent, yes. But also resilience, perspective, and people who believe in you. πŸ™Œ

We had the privilege of hosting Olympic kitefoiler Max Maeder and his mum Hwee Keng at our premises. Max's maturity and grounded outlook left us truly inspired, and seeing his mum by his side was a beautiful reminder of how vital strong support systems are to our mental health.

Thank you, Max and Hwee Keng, for your warmth, your time, and for championing such an uplifting spirit. We leave this conversation more committed than ever to deepening conversations around youth wellbeing and resilience. πŸ’™
