Over the weekend, St. Andrew’s Senior Care and our Active Ageing Centre were part of Healthier Together @ North East at Tampines North CC, organised by North East Community Development Council

Our team engaged seniors with functional screening as a key highlight. Seniors checked their strength, balance, and cognitive function — helping to detect early signs of frailty or memory changes and encouraging proactive steps towards better health. Residents also enjoyed simple, fun games such as 'Catch the ball in the cone' that promote active ageing.

We were honoured to welcome Mr David Neo and Mr Baey Yam Keng to our booth, and we thank NECDC for the opportunity to support seniors in living healthier, more active lives. 🌿

An afternoon full of joy, laughter, and meaningful connections 💛

Students from Pei Hwa Presbyterian Primary School spent a wonderful afternoon with seniors at St. Andrew's Active Ageing Centre (Jurong West), bringing energy and smiles through an array of performances, games, and heartfelt interactions.

Our seniors were treated to delightful performances by the students, including gymnastics, dance, magic show and singing of beloved classics like You Are My Sunshine. A special highlight was the beautiful musical duet of violin and guzheng, performing the timeless favourite Tian Mi Mi 🎶

The fun continued with lively carnival games, where seniors and students bonded over activities like “Hit the Tower” and table bowling—sharing laughter and even winning prizes along the way!

To wrap up the day, students presented care packs to the seniors as a heartfelt gesture of appreciation for spending such a meaningful afternoon together.

Moments like these remind us of intergenerational bonding—where joy is shared, friendships are built, and memories are made ✨

Something exciting took flight recently! 🚁

Seniors from St. Andrew’s Active Ageing Centre (Dover) and Active Global at Ghim Moh Active Ageing Centre - Care came together for the first-ever Men’s Club activity, kicking things off with an exciting Drone Workshop.

Organised as part of the Integrated Community Care Provider (ICCP) initiative, the session brought community care partners together to coordinate efforts and create opportunities for seniors to easily access activities that support their physical and cognitive well-being.

Seniors spent the day learning how to fly drones and put their skills to the test by navigating an obstacle course challenge, competing for the fastest timing. The friendly competition brought plenty of laughter, teamwork and excitement as everyone cheered one another on.

It was a wonderful start to the Men’s Club, showing that learning new skills and staying active can be both fun and empowering at any age. We look forward to many more meaningful activities together!

The angklung is an ensemble musical instrument which creates opportunities for people to get together and connect meaningfully. 🎶

Organised by Esplanade - Theatres on the Bay, seniors from St. Andrew's Active Ageing Centre (Havelock) recently went through four sessions of the Community Angklung Project, learning to play the angklung and supporting one another through music. Their dedication paid off as they put up a heartwarming performance for the residents of St. Andrew's Nursing Home (St. John’s – St. Margaret’s). ❤️

Residents were in for a treat as the seniors performed familiar favourites such as Rasa Sayang, Heal The World, and the Hokkien classic Ai Piah Cia Eh Yia. The joy did not stop there — residents also had the chance to try the angklung themselves, guided by the seniors, creating a meaningful time of interaction, laughter, and shared music.

A special thank you to the Esplanade team and Asian Medical Foundation for this meaningful collaboration, and for gifting two sets of angklung to the centre so that seniors can continue to enjoy making music together.

We would also like to thank St. John’s – St. Margaret’s Nursing Home for warmly hosting us and giving both seniors and residents the opportunity to connect through this wonderful musical experience. 🎵

Did you know? 🌱
A plant can still wilt even after being watered… because it’s not getting enough air! Healthy roots need oxygen too.

Recently, our seniors from St. Andrew’s Active Ageing Centre (Dover) had the wonderful opportunity to visit City Sprouts @ Henderson for a fun and enriching day of learning!

The visit was filled with discovery as our seniors:
🌿 Learned practical gardening tips and plant care techniques
🚜 Explored the mini farm and discovered the different types of plants grown
💧 Saw up close how a hydroponics system is set up and how plants thrive without soil

The experience didn’t stop there — our seniors also got hands-on!

👩‍🍳 They made their very own ondeh ondeh from scratch using natural ingredients from the farm, including blue pea flower extract for that beautiful natural colouring.
🪴 They also set up their own potted plants, bringing home greenery such as Cranberry Hibiscus, Brazilian Spinach, and Thai Watercress!

It was truly a day of learning, laughter, and meaningful engagement with nature. 🌼

A big thank you to the City Sprouts team for the educational tour, warm guidance, and engaging hands-on workshop.

🎊✨ Intergenerational Joy This Chinese New Year! ✨🎊

Students from St. Hilda's Secondary School spent a meaningful afternoon with our seniors at St. Andrew’s Senior Care (Tampines North), bringing festive cheer and heartfelt companionship.

Together, they enjoyed a fun-filled session of lantern making 🏮—beautifully decorated with Chinese New Year blessings and creative drawings. The room was also filled with laughter and the joyful singing of familiar Chinese New Year songs, creating a wonderful festive atmosphere.

One of the most touching moments was when the students presented oranges 🍊 to our seniors — a symbolic gesture of respect, gratitude, and good wishes for prosperity and good health in the year ahead.

Moments like these remind us of the spirit of intergenerational bonding — where traditions are shared, stories are exchanged, and hearts are connected across generations. ❤️

We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to the students of St. Hilda's Secondary School for making this celebration so special and meaningful for our seniors.

⚓✨ A Day at Sea — Without Leaving Shore! ✨⚓

Our seniors from St. Andrew’s Active Ageing Centre (Tampines Changkat) enjoyed a memorable outing to the Singapore Navy Museum, filled with discovery, laughter, and meaningful connections.

Guided by enthusiastic Youth Corps Singapore volunteers, the seniors toured the museum and took part in fun, themed activities — from Navy Bingo and ship silhouette identification, to classic Battleship board game showdowns and knot-tying challenges! 🎲🪢

We are deeply thankful to Defence Collective Singapore for making this experience extra special by arranging for two Singapore ex-Navy veterans, Mr Ong Chin Bok and Mr Loke, who each served over 40 years in the Navy, to lead the tour. Their heartfelt sharing and personal stories brought the exhibits to life and sparked many curious questions and conversations.

The seniors were truly wowed by the gallery exhibits — learning about the rich history of the Singapore Navy, and having the chance to snap photos with the display weaponry used on warships. 📸⚓

Moments like these remind us that learning, joy, and wonder have no age limit 💙

✨ Ripples of Care, Waves of Kindness ✨

Seniors from St Andrew’s Active Ageing Centre (Bedok North & Bedok South) had the honour of performing at the Neighbours for Active Living Volunteers’ Appreciation Day 2026 on 31 January 2026 (Sat) at Resorts World Sentosa 💃🕺

Our senior dance group, The Golden Gilders, truly wowed the audience with their vibrant energy, confidence, and impressive dance moves — proving that age is just a number when passion takes the lead 🌟

A heartfelt thank you to Changi General Hospital (CGH) and Southeast CDC for pioneering and supporting the Neighbours for Active Living Programme, and for walking alongside community partners and volunteers in caring for seniors.

Together, we continue to create meaningful connections, strengthen community care, and spread kindness — one ripple at a time 💙

✨ Growing Hearts, Shaping Futures ✨

We’re grateful for the continued partnership with Temasek Junior College (TJC) through the TIP and WOW internship programmes, where students gain meaningful, hands-on exposure to healthcare and community care services.

This marks the 5th batch of TJC students joining us since 2023, and it’s been inspiring to witness their growth as they spent time with seniors from St. Andrew’s Senior Care (Bedok South) and St. Andrew’s Active Ageing Centre (Bedok South). From playing Rummikub, exercising alongside seniors, serving meals, to conducting home visits through our befriending service, students experienced community care up close and personal.

Beyond participating in daily activities, students engaged deeply with our seniors and centre staff — listening, observing, and learning about real-life challenges faced in senior care. These insights culminated in project presentations, where students proposed practical, thoughtful solutions aimed at improving the quality of care and well-being of seniors, turning empathy into action.

💬 Student Chen Jay Le (17) shared his biggest takeaway “I initially thought senior care centres would be depressing, but I was wrong. The seniors talk to each other, joke, have fun through activities, and the environment is actually very lively.”

💬 Reflecting on empathy, Student Sia Xin Yi (17) shared “Listening to the seniors made me realise that many of their struggles are not always visible. Challenges with everyday tasks, mobility, and mental health are things they quietly live with. Empathy means taking the time to listen, be patient, and understand their needs instead of making assumptions — and offering care and support in ways that truly matter to them.”

Thank you, TJC, for walking this journey with us. We look forward to strengthening this partnership and shaping more young hearts who will lead with empathy and make a positive impact in the community.

Guizhou, China visit to JC and PC

On 29 January 2026, St. Andrew's Senior Care (JOY Connect) and St. Andrew's Active Ageing Centre (PEACE Connect) were honoured to host a group of visiting doctors from China as part of our ongoing efforts to strengthen regional and international education and research collaborations.

We had the pleasure of welcoming two distinguished doctors from Xingyi People’s Hospital, Guizhou, China — Dr Peng Chao, Director of the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, and Dr Cheng Daoyou, Associate Chief Physician and Deputy Director of the Department of Neurology.

During their visit, the doctors toured our Senior Care Centre (SCC), Active Ageing Centre (AAC), and Rehabilitation Centre, where they interacted with our seniors, observed rehabilitation programmes in action, and gained insights into our daily operations. The visit also included a sharing session on St. Andrew’s senior care model by Mr Simon Lim, Director of St. Andrew’s Senior Care.

We are grateful for this meaningful exchange and look forward to future opportunities for collaboration.
