The Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI) partnership, working with Pakistan’s government, has established numerous centres that integrate polio vaccination with other health services.

It’s been part of Rotary’s polio eradication strategy from the beginning to address other pressing community needs, such as access to clean water and malnutrition.

The October issue of the Rotary GB&I Magazine is out now! 🙌🍰

This month Dave King caught up with the Great British Bake Off queen, Mary Berry, as she reflects on her experience of contracting the poliovirus as a young teenager, the lasting effects of the disease and why she remains a passionate supporter of vaccination.

Ahead of World Polio Day on the 24th October, this issue also brings you the latest polio-focused stories from Aziz Memon, Chair of Pakistan's National PolioPlus Committee and Judith Diment, Vice-Chair, International PolioPlus Committee, Rotary International, amongst others.

Plus, to mark Community Economic Development Month, we take a look at how Rotary-backed eye surgery is restoring sight while training doctors and opening up opportunities for patients through an international Rotary partnership stretching from Ghana to India and Britain.

All this, plus your incredible stories of Rotary members changing lives and helping communities to grow and thrive across Great Britain and Ireland and beyond:

🌏 RCMC Lunch Meeting — 27 August 2026

Our RCMC lunch meeting was held at Paulaner, where we had the pleasure of welcoming two visiting Rotarians from Down Under! 🇳🇿🇦🇺

They shared fascinating stories and highlights from New Zealand’s South Island and Tasmania, Australia—two truly beautiful destinations.

Their stories certainly gave us all a serious case of wanderlust and made us want to pack our bags and travel! ✈️🌿

Thank you for sharing your experiences and inspiring our next adventures! 😊
