Engineers Without Borders Singapore Engineers Without Borders (Singapore) (EWB-SG) is the official Singapore chapter of Engineers Without Borders International (EWB-I).

Vision
To be a non-profit organisation whose members deliver sustainable solutions to developing communities worldwide and to make use of our diverse technical expertise to solve critical problems affecting those in need of assistance. Objectives
• To work, help and improve the quality of life of the underprivileged and those in poverty through humanitarian engineering in Singapore/overseas.
• To gather and lead a society of like-minded and passionate people for humanitarian engineering in Singapore/overseas.

For years, the Ulot River in Tapul, The Philippines, stood as a constant, daunting barrier for the residents. After a devastating typhoon had washed away the community pedestrian bridge, some 500 residents were left struggling to access nearby markets, schools and healthcare on the other side of the river.

Chapters from around the world, specifically EWB Houston, EWB Philippines and EWB Singapore joined hands to address this crisis in 2019. We took the lead in schematic design, designing a modern, sturdy bridge capable of withstanding potential floods and raising funds for the project.

Through dedicated effort and global cooperation among the different EWB chapters, the Tapul Bridge was successfully completed in 2025 🎉. Thank you to the team led by Dr Ali and Joseph Ang for the 6 years of hard work!

EWB (SG) wishes everyone a very Happy New Year! ✨🌎

We’re proud to welcome the incoming executive committee for 2026 — individuals from various backgrounds, brought together by one common goal. This year, we also bid farewell to our pioneering team member . As bittersweet goodbyes can be, we are immensely grateful for his support through all these years and we wish him the very best in his future endeavours!

As we look ahead, we’re excited to take on more impactful engineering projects that serve and empower communities. Let’s make 2026 count!

Feeling incredibly grateful for the opportunity to share the work we’ve been doing at Engineers Without Borders Singapore during the AMP Singapore & Jazari Engineers Network Programme Launch! 🌟

We spoke about both our local and international projects, and encouraged mentors and mentees alike to get involved. It was great to receive such thoughtful questions from the audience ranging from the technical aspects of volunteering to how our volunteers stay motivated over the long term.

Most importantly, we shared what truly makes a great volunteer. It’s not experience. It’s not technical skills. It’s not education.
It’s a big heart and a deep need for change.

💧NEPAL WATER PROJECT 💧
Our hearts swell with joy as we look back on our adventure that led us to the rural town of Bungamati in Nepal. After months of planning and preparation, we set out as a team of 4 to meticulously put into action the solutions drawn from the insights of our recce trip last year. We installed a rainwater collection and storage system that would significantly alleviate the problem of unreliable water supply, replaced electrical sockets and improved wifi connectivity throughout the compound.

Yet, the true treasure of this journey lies not in the systems that we built as a team, but in the relationships that were forged. As we reflect on this transformative experience, we are reminded the most rewarding part of any endeavour is the human connection 🫶🏾. Without a doubt, memories of the Bungamati community will continue to fuel the passion in us to create meaningful change in all that we do 🌍

Our hearts swell with joy as we look back on our adventure that led us to the rural town of Bungamati in Nepal. What began as a vision during the recce soon transformed into a reality with the installation of a rainwater collection and storage system that would significantly alleviate the problem of unreliable water supply. We also replaced electrical sockets and improved wifi connectivity throughout the compound.

Let’s give Mother Earth some love today and every other day. By making small but powerful changes in our daily lives, we make a huge impact on the health of our planet. Every little bit counts! 💧

At EWB (SG), we make sustainable and inclusive growth our responsibility. From working to provide clean water and sanitation in Nepal to reusing old materials to build a new playground at Nee Soon, we all share one common passion— to engineer solutions that work in harmony with our environment.
