Believing that the most transformative learning experiences takes place outside of the classroom and in moments of discomfort, Dr Shreya Jajoo (MiM 2016) has established the Jajoo Udaan SMU-X Overseas Exposure Grant. The fund aims to provide aspiring female students access to cross-border academic experiences, enriching cultural exposure, and independence without financial worry.

Established in memory of her late grandfather and inspired by the Hindi word ‘udaan’, means reaching new heights, the gift is both a tribute to a legacy of giving, and a heartfelt gesture to mark a significant milestone for Shreya. By providing a pathway for students to access learning beyond the classroom without financial worries, Shreya hopes that the fund will provide recipients with the confidence to approach future opportunities with greater ambition, perspective, and self-belief, and to return from these experiences feeling that the world is bigger, more accessible, and full of possibilities they are capable of pursuing.

The SMU Master of Professional Accounting (MPA) programme has always been more than a degree—it is a community that continues to inspire, support, and uplift one another long after graduation. As we celebrate our 20th Anniversary, we're excited to launch the 𝐌𝐏𝐀 𝐀𝐥𝐮𝐦𝐧𝐢 𝐅𝐮𝐧𝐝, which will recognise exceptional alumni and support alumni initiatives such as networking, mentoring, lifelong learning, and community engagement.

We're raising S$50,000 to establish this Fund in perpetuity so future generations of MPA graduates can continue to benefit from a strong and connected community. Every contribution—big or small—helps create a lasting impact.

This week, SMU’s Class of 2026 will be celebrating their Commencement 🎓 And before they do, we're asking one question:

𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒅𝒐 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒃𝒆𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒅?

Because giving doesn't have to wait until you’ve made it. It can start with the SMU Circle Fund, to support the students who will walk these same halls long after each cohort graduates.

Since 2016, graduates who have made their first gift have had their names on display and their words etched permanently in seminar rooms, so that future students know someone believed in them and paved the way for their success. This year, Class of 2026 continues this tradition with over 70 donors to date and counting.

We are incredibly proud to celebrate Ryan Lee who has been named the recipient of both the Kwek Hong Png Valedictorian Award and the prestigious CPI Valedictorian Award for the Class of 2026.

Ryan graduates with a perfect GPA, but his most memorable moments at SMU were never about grades. Whether leading the 20th Anniversary SCIS Day through a budget cut with calm and composure, mentoring student entrepreneurs at the SMU Social Impact Catalyst Club, or guiding juniors as a member of The Mentoring Circle, Ryan has always chosen to show up for others. His pay-it-forward spirit — rooted in the guidance he himself received as a first-year student — has quietly shaped the lives of many around him.

That spirit does not end at graduation. Ryan has been appointed as a Class Alumni Leader, a testament to a young man who gives not because he has to, but because it is simply who he is. He is the kind of leader SMU is proud to have nurtured — humble, authentic, and leaving this community a little warmer than he found it. Ryan, we are so proud of you.
