39 floors. One team. Every step with purpose. ๐Ÿ’™

On 20 August, our YMCA Club LITE members, caregivers and staff climbed all 39 floors of the Frasers Tower Vertical Challenge together.

Among them were 11 YMCA Inclusive Challenge Ambassadors, whose journeys have already taken them to Mount Fuji and Hong Kong's MacLehose Trail. Their next milestone: the 36km YMCA Inclusive Challenge Coast-to-Coast Trail.

The climb was not just about reaching the top. It was about perseverance, courage and the power of encouragement.

As we mark our third year participating in this challenge, we're reminded that every journey is different, but every step forward matters.

๐Ÿ’™ One building. 39 floors. A community climbing together.

The participants of the YMCA Mandarin Speaking Awards (MSA) had inspiring stories to tell about their confidence, perseverance and a love for Chinese Language.

The finalists, Poh siblings, Poh Yijing, Poh Yijie and Poh Yiting, all reached the finals in their respective categories, and demonstrated how a shared passion for the Chinese language and public speaking can inspire confidence and growth. The winner of the Upper Primary category, Sun Ruoyan, had embraced the competition as an opportunity to challenge herself and further develop her public speaking skills.

Their experiences were recently featured in Thumbs Up, Lianhe Zaobaoโ€™s school publication, highlighting how the YMCA Mandarin Speaking Awards serves as more than a competition.

Mandarin Speaking Awards is more than a competition, and it serves as a platform that empowers children to build confidence, strengthen critical thinking skills, and develop effective communication abilities while nurturing their body, mind and spirit in line with YMCA's mission.

When opportunity meets talent, extraordinary moments happen.

On 30 July, members of Club LITE from YMCA of Singapore took centre stage at Act 2 of An Extraโ€ขOrdinary Celebration 2026. Performing alongside Nathan Hartono and other gifted artistes, they delivered a heartfelt showcase that celebrated courage, talent, and the belief that everyone deserves a chance to shine.

This performance was more than a showcase of talent. It was a celebration of inclusion, empowerment and the limitless potential of every individual.

Weโ€™re incredibly grateful to the organisers of An Extraโ€ขOrdinary Celebration 2026 for creating a platform where our Club LITE members could be seen, heard, and celebrated. ๐Ÿ’™A special thank you to Nathan Hartono for sharing the stage with us and helping make the performance truly unforgettable. Hereโ€™s to creating more opportunities where everyone can belong, shine, and be celebrated for who they are. โœจ

Through YMCA's Club LITE programme, youths with special needs are empowered to build confidence, develop life skills and pursue their interests through the arts, sports and employment pathways.

Happy National Day!

Together, we build a stronger, kinder and more inclusive Singapore. Letโ€™s continue to uplift one another, empower our youth, and make a lasting impact in our communities. ๐Ÿ’›

07/08/2026

This National Day, we are celebrating Nicole, a member of our Club LITE programme, whose artwork was featured on this year's National Day Parade (NDP) packs.

Inspired by the bright red lanterns she loves during Chinese New Year, Nicole's vibrant artwork is carried by thousands of Singaporeans during this year's National Day celebrations. What began as a childhood passion for drawing, rediscovered through Club LITE, has become a meaningful contribution to our nation's story.

Her journey reminds us that when we look beyond first impressions and create opportunities for everyone to participate, talents shine, confidence grows and communities become stronger.

As Singapore celebrates SG61, we are reminded that our nation's strength lies in embracing every individual's unique gifts and creating a society where everyone has the opportunity to contribute and belong.

From all of us at the YMCA of Singapore, we wish everyone a joyful and meaningful National Day.

Happy 61st Birthday, Singapore!

Freshly baked. Shared with purpose. ๐Ÿ’™

Every charity bread set sold was more than a delicious treatโ€”it was an investment in someone's future.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our YMCA Charity Pop-up and supported this meaningful initiative. Because of you, every purchase helps empower youths-at-risk with the training, confidence, and opportunities they need to pursue meaningful employment through the YMCA Community Services Fund.

We are also grateful to Michelin-starred Chef Masahiko Kawano for lending his culinary expertise and support to this meaningful fundraising initiative.

Together, we're creating brighter futuresโ€”one bun at a time. ๐ŸžโœจWe also extend our sincere thanks to Takashimaya for their generous hospitality in hosting our charity pop-up at the Prestige Lounge.

An evening that brought together entertainment, inclusion, and meaningful community impact.

In conjunction with Sony Pictures, YMCA of Singapore hosted a Charity Movie Premiere of Spider-Man: Brand New Day on 29 July.

We were privileged to have Member of Parliament Ms Hany Soh join us at the event.

Beyond our generous donors, the event welcomed our Y-HEROs and their families, together with residents from Woodgrove Constituency.

In the final story of our three-part series, meet ๐˜๐จ๐ง๐  ๐–๐ž๐ข.

Growing up, Yong Wei moved from home to home, navigating family challenges and uncertainty. Through the Vocational and Soft Skills Programme (VaSSP), he met his caseworker, Wai Cheng, whose encouragement helped him discover a new path. With her support, Yong Wei completed a hairdressing internship, graduated from secondary school, and went on to pursue his passion for hairdressing at ITE.

Today, Yong Wei gives back by encouraging youths in VaSSP, carrying forward the same hope and support that changed his life.

As we count down to the YMCA Charity Movie Premiere of ๐™Ž๐™ฅ๐™ž๐™™๐™š๐™ง-๐™ˆ๐™–๐™ฃ: ๐˜ฝ๐™ง๐™–๐™ฃ๐™™ ๐™‰๐™š๐™ฌ ๐˜ฟ๐™–๐™ฎ, help more youths like Yong Wei discover their potential.
