outing 🎢

Hadi's* first outing with his foster family to Genting Highlands was a chilly one, but full of warm memories. He was excited to spend the time with his foster parents, Mr Yusri and Mdm Murniyati and their two sons, as they explored the amusement park rides together.

Regardless of the destination, Hadi* shared he simply enjoyed spending time going out and about with his foster family. Spending quality time together as a family is one of the ways foster parents get to know Hadi better and build a bond together. Swipe to read more!

To Clara, drawing is one of the ways she expresses her creativity! Her foster parents, whom she lovingly refers to as Uncle Matt and Aunty Emm, shared with us the very first artwork Clara created for them. In their home, you can also find other pieces she made, lovingly displayed by her foster parents.

foster sibling 💐

Moving to a new environment can be an intimidating process for a child, and a sibling figure may help the foster child feel less alone, especially during the period of transition.

Nine years ago, Jenny met her first foster sibling, Esther, when she was 10 years old. It did not take long for them to warm up to each other, with Jenny describing Esther as the best sister ever.

Despite being far apart in age, they enjoy each other's warmth and company, and even share similar hobbies. Swipe to join in on a day out with Jenny and her sister!

hobby 🎣

Fishing has always been a family affair for Farzan's foster family, and Farzan picked up fishing as a hobby from his foster father, Mr Jamaluddin, when he was 6 years old. Once a month, Farzan and Mr Jamaluddin spend quality time together bonding over a common hobby they both enjoy.

Besides basic necessities like food, clothing, and shelter, foster families provide children with love, nurturance, and a positive experience on how family members show care and concern for one another.

Welcoming foster children into their home has been a blessing for foster parents, Mdm Zaina and Mr Asiek, who are currently caring for 2 young children.

They hope to provide the best environment for their foster children, and they understand there should be adequate space for the child to sleep and store their belongings.

Swipe to see how Mdm Zaina prepared the room to ensure that it is comfortable, and child-friendly where the children can play safely. Besides that, the room holds many fond memories for foster parents, and they frequently reminisce times they had with their previous foster children.

toy 🚗⚽

For foster parents, Mr Idris and Mdm Shakeela, getting the entire family involved in fostering is their priority. Before the arrival of their foster child, Faisal, they brought their two children (affectionally known as "Anneh” (elder brother) and “Akka” (elder sister)) to pick out a special toy each for their new sibling. Their son chose a toy car, and their daughter picked a ball — Both were placed in Faisal's cot to welcome him to their home.

At 1 year old, Faisal has grown up surrounded by love, not just from his foster parents, but from his foster siblings too! The children have embraced their roles by helping foster parents with small tasks, and even stepping in to entertain their foster brother when they are busy. Whether it’s singing songs or playing with Faisal, the bond between the foster siblings is beautiful to witness.

birthday 🎂

Being in foster care since he was 1.5 months old, foster parents, Adrian and Jane celebrated their foster child, Eli's first ever birthday by inviting members, who are supportive of their fostering journey, to a small and intimate party at their home.

Eli's birthday party was filled with love and joy, as their fostering community came together to celebrate this joyous occasion. It is a precious memory that foster parents held in their journey caring for Eli.

While Eli has since been reunited with his family, Adrian and Jane continue to wish for Eli and his family to remain in good health for the years to come.

foster care worker 🤝

Our foster care workers partner collaboratively with foster families to ensure the child's needs are met. For Sara and Ryan, their first foster care worker, Shu Shan, is someone whom they have fond memories of.

Besides connecting Sara and Ryan to a wider network of resources, Shu Shan also supports foster parents in navigating the foster care system and guiding them through challenging situations. While there are times when emotions clouded their thoughts, Shu Shan was able to put matters into perspective, helping foster parents to gain better clarity of the situation and decide on the next steps.

From Sara and Ryan's foster parents, it is very comfortable to speak with Shu Shan and she is a very warm person. Often, she will send a message to check with foster parents on their well-being, a gesture which they are deeply appreciative of.

Sara and Ryan are always happy to see Shu Shan when she comes over for a home visit! Swipe to read their thoughts and memories of their first foster care worker.
