“My grandsons are very surprised, but also proud that (their) grandma can still do this,” shared Mdm Hedy Lim, 72, a regular floor curling participant at SLEC Active Ageing Centre (Care) @ Golden Years.
Initially drawn to floor curling because it was low-impact and played indoors, Mdm Lim quickly fell in love with both the game and the friendships that came with it. Since picking up the sport a year ago, it has given her a renewed sense of purpose and achievement, and she now proudly shares her progress with her grandchildren.
With the support of Singapore Floor Curling, floor curling was introduced across our Active Ageing Centres and has since become one of the activities our active agers look forward to the most.
An adaptation of curling, the sport combines strategy, teamwork and movement, making it fun, accessible and easy for everyone to enjoy.
But for many players, it is as much about camaraderie and inclusion as it is about competition. Every session is an opportunity to laugh, connect and create meaningful friendships.
